Yeah I heard no Chris Pratt at all. People hate Chris Pratt because of his alleged politics even though he seems like an okay guy considering his alleged affiliations.
Oh right — the officials of the Church he belongs to happens to be super conservative and homophobic, was that it? Never heard anything negative about him from people who actually know him, so I think that’s unfair way of judging the kind of person he is. Never been a fan of the “guilt by association” thing.
I don't know if focus groups determined that Chris Pratt's name would have sold more tickets, but if they just let the voice be uncredited until the credits roll and have it be a moment of "Mario was voiced by...CHRIS PRATT??" I think that would have been better. Children who care about Star-Lord aren't coming to this movie; I think the majority of the targeted audience is more 25-34 year olds than elementary school kids. And public opinion of those 25-34 year olds for Pratt, is so terrible.
Has nothing to do with politics. Very obvious that everyone is commenting that he doesn't sound like Mario. You're the only one making this about politics
Yeah, his alleged church affiliations is what everyone hates, but publicly Pratt hasn't done anything... yet.
What does Mario sound like (the only Mario games I’ve played are the NES/SNES ones)? In the trailer, the Mario voice seems fine. If no one knew it was Chris Pratt, I kind of doubt people would be complaining about the voice.
Chris Pratt is the absolute best option to voice Mario... Anyone who dislikes Chris Pratt as Mario is because of something else that has nothing to do with Pratt's talent.
I have had no prior knowledge of Chris Pratt's political affiliations (nor do i care). I'm strictly basing my opinions on the fact that Chris Pratt sounds nothing like Mario, just like every other comment in this thread had indicated Let's keep political posts in D&D
I don't care who is voicing Mario but Chris Pratt isn't even attempting to sound like the character. Nintendo is making it like Detective Pikachu where the characters have entirely different voices.
yall ninjas have to stop getting so worked up about stuff. I was simply providing the lore about why some people dislike Chris Pratt all of a sudden. I also don't care about who is voicing Mario; especially now that Mario doesn't sound like Pratt or Mario. going into the D&D cesspool is making some you guys so nervous out here. a slight political adjacent comment is not going to spiral into anything. you dont care about CP's affiliations. good, keep it moving.
My kids are excited. I tried to get them to watch the 1993 interpretation but they said it was bad and one of them started crying. Jokes on them.
OK, so you’re unhappy that Mario’s voice isn’t high pitched and he doesn’t have a super thick Italian accent like the voice used in some of the recent video games? I don’t remember Mario sounding like that back in the 90s. Here is the Mario cartoon I remember where he definitely doesn’t have that voice:
