I have to admit that I am learning how sturdy bridges can be.

    Bad rumor:
Coup in Moscow and the Wegner folks have assumed control. This feels like a plot of a metal gear solid game.

I saw this and ignored it earlier, but it keeps popping up in other feeds:

    Translation:

    Military arrests began in Moscow

In the Russian capital, a complex of "measures" directed against the military began.

Traffic in the center is blocked.

Units of the operational division named after Dzerzhinsky - the "elite" of the Russian Guard - entered the city.

They are moving to the center together with police units.

It is known about numerous arrests, detentions and blocking of military personnel.

Instead, all military units on the perimeter of Moscow have been put on high alert.

Fact is stranger than fiction, so I am definitely following.

I did not expect to wake up to the bridge being damaged and I do not expect to fall asleep to a purge of officials in Moscow.

Is this a bridge in Russia?

    What are the strategic implications.

It's a bridge that the Russians built after they invaded Crimea that connects occupied Crimea with Russia. It was the only way to get into Crimea from Russia.

The train bridge is supposed to re-open soon, but for now, the only way for Russians to return to Russia from Crimea with their cars is via ferry.

It was build by the Russians to show their "ownership" of Crimea and is a huge symbol of the 2014 invasion, in addition to the practical worth. The Russians repeatedly touted it as indestructible and completely defended from attack.

DW (German news) estimates it will take around two weeks to repair, but will delay supplies to kherson at that time.

It's probably Ukraine's interests not to completely destroy the bridge. So the explosion seems expertly delivered.

As for morale, a big win for Ukraine...

...But we all know it's nucular Biden behind this. No evidence butt we all like accusing folks without evidence on here.
