It's a bridge that the Russians built after they invaded Crimea that connects occupied Crimea with Russia. It was the only way to get into Crimea from Russia. The train bridge is supposed to re-open soon, but for now, the only way for Russians to return to Russia from Crimea with their cars is via ferry. It was build by the Russians to show their "ownership" of Crimea and is a huge symbol of the 2014 invasion, in addition to the practical worth. The Russians repeatedly touted it as indestructible and completely defended from attack.
DW (German news) estimates it will take around two weeks to repair, but will delay supplies to kherson at that time. It's probably Ukraine's interests not to completely destroy the bridge.
