I think that’s fair honestly. I’m not a Stroud fan and it’s probably unfair to him, the kid is deadly accurate.

Truth is there is a fair amount of really good QB talent not only this year but even looking beyond. I dont think this team needs to feel compelled to rush to judgement at the position even though in the same breath I do agree with anyone who believes that the QB is the most important position to fill. Taking Mills in the 3rd was always going to be a project. So far its not working out, but it hasnt been some huge gaffe that cant be overcome. I just look at it as the Texan tradition of missing on 3rd rounders - no biggie. What WILL hurt is reaching for a guy like Chicago did with Trubisky given all the question marks and only focusing on "arm talent". Im not 100% sold to that point where Im locked in on Stroud or any other QB because they are all in very close proximity to one another in my eyes albeit with different styles. It does nobody any good if you can sling it 100 yards, but cant hit the broad side of the barn from 20 yards away or take way too many risks in forcing balls leading to turnovers.

I think another contributor here summed it up nicely in asking if any of us really believe that this coach and staff are the right leaders to mold a top 5 QB prospect? Thats the scary part - thrusting a raw talent like that on incompetent managers. Defenders just need to fly around and be pissed off when they get to the ball - just feels safer to go that route if this staff is going to be in place for the foreseeable future.

Well said. My eyes have been opened to the situation of having a top 5 QB being coached by this group. I like Lovie, but it’s pretty obvious hes not the future.
For one, I’d hate for our top pick to go through multiple coordinators and head coaches that quickly, and Mills seems to have regressed.
How much of that is on Mills? How much is on Pep?
    Hard to answer that question.

I like Levis, the physical tools are there, but besides that the scouts talking about his work ethic and leadership is what sold me. But…….I get why people wouldn’t want him, he’s a gambler and he’s on older side.
If we draft any of the 3 top guys I’m going to support them, I just have more and more doubts about the organization. Sad too, I’m typically an optimistic guy.

Thats all you can do man. Hope for the best. Hard to be a fan during these times. I have no doubt that Pep Hamilton has caused some of the regression with Mills. He sure isnt setting him up for success when he takes out your #1 RB on 4th and 1 and then have the nerve to tell us that it was because "it was a passing play" ??? Like do these guys know scheme and game theory at all? When thy plugged in Rex the whole D knew what was coming! It goes beyond "Davis Mills is gutter trash" the managers need to start shouldering their portion of the blame. I was always high on Joe Brady before the Culley disaster and subsequent Lovie stopgap - I hope they go back to that offensive minded coach if they intend to draft a QB high. Neither Pep or Lovie are the right candidates for that type of development IMO.

edit: and they didnt even block Khalil Mack on that play!!

Truer words have never been typed on here... That's why I would take all BPAs this year... There isn't a generational type QB ,IMO , to warrant altering their rebuilding strategy... Sure, one may come out lighting it up but it's probably gonna be the one that drops to a playoff ready team ... Another year of sucking and accumulating talent won't hurt.. They should be immune to slander and humiliation from everyone outside of NRG..

I'll take him top of the 2nd after taking a WR or TE ( Mayer) in the first.

I'm hoping for Smith -Njigba or Johnston in the 1st, Darnell Washington in the 2nd and Achane at the top of the 3rd. Those are real weapons that can help the QB out alot. Threats to score anytime they touch the ball. and great red zone options. Add in a healthy Metchie with Cooks and you will see a much improved offense.

Technically, Anthony Richardson is the most physically gifted, but Will Levis probably has the best combination of arm talent/arm strength, since Richardson is wildly inaccurate. My problem with Levis, is first his age since he's an old prospect, and then second, while he's physically gifted, he's turnover prone and might be lacking in pocket awareness. Levis has the potential to be the next Josh Allen, but he also could be the next in a long line of physically gifted QBs who don't have the mental makeup to play in the NFL at a high level. I'm leaning more towards him being in that second category and I'm hoping the Texans don't fall in love with Levis just because of his physical gifts and ignore that you have to be able to mentally play the position at a high level. Stroud and Young have demonstrated that mental ability while Levis has not yet.

Levis age doesn't bother me and he's been very productive despite playing with lesser talent than Stroud/Young have played with. I wonder what people said about Josh Allen when he was coming out? With this said, I dont like any QB in this class.

Speed wise don’t you think he’s close to Deshaun? Looks like a 4.6 guy.

I do, I’m just saying that’s a tantalizing combo. When you say it like that it’s a no brainer for me.
