    If we can have a clean 9th inning, we will end the season with a 2.89 ERA.

    You have to go back to at least 1979 to find an AL team below 2.90. I'm trying to verify how far back. If anyone can find out, let me know. My guess is it's one of the late 60s Baltimore staffs or possibly the A's dynasty of the early 70s.

    I will say Mancini might be the slowest runner (non-catcher) in all of baseball.

    Hopefully the following occurred because of this game:

    Hensley got himself on the playoff roster over Dubon. He's got quite a bat. And ANYBODY is a better defensive player than Dubon.

    Maton guaranteed he's off the playoff roster and will be replaced by Brown.

    Valdez finished 2nd in the AL in wins (17) behind Verlander (18) and Garcia finished tied for 4th (15).

    I was worried Framber was gassed. But he seemed very workmanlike today while throwing pitches until they were strikes and then throwing from the stretch, even with no one on. It was a classic work day for a player preparing for the playoffs.
