Altuve and Pena are not likely to come in with a change in Pitchers unlike the complete clearing of the bench yesterday. Which brings up a point, if Vasquez were injured with the empty bench, who is the Emergency catcher and which Pitcher plays a Position?
Here's the issue. That was not a high leverage situation. It was 10-freakin-0. Under no circumstances, including a potential team no-hitter, is closing out a 10-0 lead high leverage. Yeah, the players would've liked it but they certainly aren't going to have their night ruined because it didn't ultimately happen.
This is clearly just a matter of opinion, but I disagree. Putting a player in a game where they know if they give up a single hit they ruin something that is very special to players and fans makes it much higher pressure than just closing out a 10-0 game. I would argue that is easily the highest pressure a player would expierence in a game finishing out the season right now as the Astros are. There are no real stakes in any of these last 8 games or so. But being the difference between the players rushing on the field and celebrating or just finishing out another ho-hum regular season blowout means something. It may have had no input into Dusty's thinking. But it would be interesting if that was his thought process.
Framber is working on getting his Curve working. Most of his misses are Curve Balls. Getting closer though. [According to Gameday] This is what I want to see today. Finding his feel for all his pitches. edit By George i think he's got it.
Dubon has a track-record of sucking. Mancini has a track record of succeeding. Mancini is the far likelier of the two to get hot. Pretty much end discussion
Plus Mancini has been getting out on a lot of unlucky hits. I've seen him smash the ball many times that he gets robbed on.
