Do these people not realize that the environmental impact of these attacks on the pipeline are like the equivalent of 2 million cars running for 35 years?? No way that Joe Biden... who needs to have SOME credibility on the left for climate issues, would ever okay something so stupid and catastrophic for the environment. There's also no evidence whatsoever that the United States benefits from Europe dissenting into chaos. I get that people just assume that the CIA is playing 3D chess and playing both sides like a Jason Borne movie, but the reality is the US has no tangible benefit from blowing up this pipeline. The REAL reason why idiots like or Elon Musk are coming out now trying to rationalize crap like this is people are seriously getting anxiety about nuclear war, and TikTok, and social media are pumping out nuke p*rn like crazy right now. So people are just naturally starting to train their brains into thinking that the US is ACTIVELY WANTING nuclear war, and we all should put political pressure on Biden/NATO to just give Putin Eastern Ukraine so I can sleep at night. I COMPLETELY understand the notion. Hell... I would feel better tonight about a nuclear war not happening if a deal was made. But it doesn't mean that it's the right decision, and there's no evidence that we'll benefit as a global society if Biden just decides tomorrow to capitulate. If anything we'll be in a more dangerous position because Putin won, and it'll enable other dictators to try their luck too knowing that the West will capitulate if you only threaten nuclear war.
It's a bit more cynical imo. These folks know demand in Europe will crater and it's only a matter of when. None of this is really priced in to multinational valuations, especially in tech. Do euros need cloud or ad services? Can they run it affordably? Fancy 60-120k cars? First thing to sell in Europe for a bike. Even without Europe, we've lived through decades of climate denial for the sake of pumping cheap gas into the veins of our economy. The assumption is that a peaceful resolution would ease embargoes and revert to the previous wimpy status quo and at the very least, signal an end to hawkish rate hike policies. Given the choice with the same ends, would you spit the word salad above or proclaim we're all gonna die because Uncle Brandon wants to nuke us all?
Here's what Ukrainians think of Musk's "assistance" with negotiations: They're still happy about Starlink, though.
Thus far Joe Biden has handled Russia and the Ukraine perfectly. It isn't over and things can change quickly, but thus far he deserves a lot of cautious praise. He hasn't bent over like the prior administration and has also kept the USA out of the Russian conflict thus far and has helped pressure China to have a very limited impact. Further, he got our soldiers out of the the Middle East when the prior three administrations lacked the guts to do so. His handling of international/foreign relations has been the best in decades.... granted he still has 2-6 years left before it is fully accounted for. I do not agree with some of his domestic choices, but for the most part he has been consistent in a period of chaos after COVID and illegitimate attempts to steal the Presidency and disgrace the office.
There is zero evidence of the US involvement. Hypothetically, if Biden did green light it.... I don't care, because he is not being credibly blamed for it. It is nice to have a proactive President against Russia, instead of a corrupt lapdog.
If it's anything like the rest of Musk's ventures, he'll claim he can get it done by EOY, but won't complete it until 2030.
As a reminder, Biden provoked Russia in November 2021 by entering into the "Strategic Partnership" between NATO and Ukraine. This led to the war. As a reminder, Crimea was taken by Russia on Obama's watch -- I assume this is the "prior administration" you referred to that "bent over" for Russia. Here we sit on the cusp of WW3 and you are praising Biden's failures. The programming is strong with the normies!
"Cusp of WW3" I guess this is the new conservative narrative. The only thing we are on "cusp of" is Russia collapsing. The handling of this situation, frankly, has been fantastic.
