While Nix is a skilled passer, he lacks severely in the areas of free throw shooting, defense, and most importantly speed. He is too slow to be playing at this elite level. Gotta be the one of the slowest point guards in modern NBA times. Free throw shooting can be fixed, but not speed (which kills his defense against point guards). Guys like Ivey will just fly by him as do almost all the other guards I’ve seen him attempt to cover. Rockets are on an upswing and bringing him off the bench first is an unnecessary weakness and costly to our future success.

While I don’t necessarily disagree, I’m also not sure how many minutes Nix will end up playing. It’s going to be tight, minutes-wise.

During a tear-down rebuild there's hundreds of Nix type players. Rockets are focusing on who they're building around while taking low risk fliers on guys like Nix. Enjoy the rebuild and do not Nix pick and you'll be fine

Nix just needs to be more consistent. He has the potential. It'll be interesting to see if TyTy can secure the backup PG role from him this year.

Agree, he’s hard to watch. Surely there are better PG prospects than him!

Kind of annoyed that he is taking minutes away from Jaygup and Garry Bird.

Let’s sign Mike Conley to a two year contract to come off the bench and train KPJ, Green, Tyty for a couple years

I would rather let Jaygup/EG handle the ball for the second unit. Really annoyed that Nix is ahead of the guys that played well last season while he hasn't shown anything.

He was awesome with the Vipers but hasn't shown anything in the Big L....

Why would it matter if he is taking minutes from Garry Bird?

    KPJ/Conley/Tyty
    Green/Christopher
    Tari/Gordon/lotto pick
    Jabari/Tate/lotto
    Sengun/Garuba/Bruno or free agent

that’s the kind of lineup I’d like to see next year. Sign someone like Conley to a two year contract. Slightly overpay to come off the bench and add some incentives of play in or playoff appearances.

this is all in the master plan of tanking. getting guys like him, hoping he'll increase his value while we lose, then trade him.

He’s the backup point guard. He’s clearly ahead of Tyty based off the history of Silas preferences and play order

I didn't think Nix looked that bad.

It's only a matter of time before TyTy overtakes him anyways.
