1 preseason game but kpj looked very good. He had a calmness and pace to his play that he didnt have last year. He wasnt out there doing crazy stuff and turning ot over left and right. No running in the lane and picking up his dribble for no reason. He wasnt dribbling the air out of the ball and ill be damned, he made a well timed accurate cross court pass in the half court offense. Building on that and being consistent is the next step for him.
Yup. He especially looked good in the second half after he settled down a bit. Sengun running point-center will hopefully help KPJ unlock his potential.
Thought the cross court pass to Bari in the corner was a thing of beauty. Then realized it was with his off hand and I was like . Can't wait til Friday.
+23 for all the stat geeks in a "bad" game!! 6 assists in a "passive" game?? OKAY! Best part for me was watching Scooter dictate the flow and make sure everyone was in position while playing sound defense. Proud Papa moment! He didnt even throw soup!
One of the most sound games I've seen KPj play. Settled down in the 2nd half and let the game come to him. Still lacking chemistry with Green, need to practice alley oops.
Didnt you see the junior high lunch room routine in the game thread!?!? LOL all the snarky "where is KPJ on this list" "Where are the KPJ lovers now" throughout the offseason? For their sake I hope he doesnt do as well as game 1 for most of the year because I will redefine what gloating means. I have PAGES of receipts Seriously though - Im just sitting back with my arms crossed with a huge grin on my face right now! Feelsgood.jpeg and its only ONE meaningless preseason game! Its going to be an awesome year for KPJ he showed EXACTLY what he needed to in his first game. Great command of the team for a guy who's not even a point guard!
Not only that Garuba, Jabari and Eason contributed 25 rebounds!! We outrebounded a Popovich team by 16!! Thats awesome!
Did you see Herro got $32.5 mil per year x 4 years. Herro just shoots They should have listened to us VC
Some guys still dont understand that 30Ms per year will be standard across the league for high minute rotation players regardless of how their advanced stats look. GMs are hedging for the huge cap spike coming up. Stone has proven he's as smart as anyone an his roster construct so far has been flawless. I'll trust where he takes us. https://www.forbes.com/sites/bryant...nning-for-the-2025-offseason/?sh=5d0ef49427c4
"I'm a lot more confident starting him at pg and giving him 2-3 yrs to learn the ropes." You are willing to bank on that for $20-25M per on a long term contract? I really hope this entire post is sarcasm.
Well last TV contract brought the Wing rage of overpaying guys like Parsons types such as Bazemore and Otto Porter and Kelly Ouber.....even Ariza got his $15M per year as just a 3 & D guy. This TV contract is going to pay the combo guards Bukoo bucks. The new rage. KPj is right there with them.
Teams have to reach a salary floor too. Easy for ROX this year with so much dead money, but the team cant just 'save it for next year' usually .. if you arent paying your home grown players you better hit homeruns in free agency -- when you look at the free agent list for the years coming up it should take the wheel for even the most frugal fan. Houston is in a fairytale place right now. Loads of young talent and about to have max level salary slots open up. Its a special time to be a Rocket fan. This rebuild is going even better than I could have imagined.
