It’s confirmation bias. It’s easier to accept the Russian version because it matches their own bias to blame Democratic leadership in the US. It’s more important to score domestic political points than it is geopolitical.
Except there is no direct proof that the Us was behind the pipeline explosion. There is circumstantial evidence that the US was involved but there is circumstantial evidence that Russia and other countries was involved. It’s also not completely ruled out this was an accident. Yet JFK escalated tensions with things like the Bay of Pigs and the blockade of Cuba. If JFK had done like Trump he wouldn’t have blockaded Cuba and just allowed Russia to put missiles there. In the meetings with Kim Jong Un Trump agreed to halt joint US SK Korean war games without any concessions from NK. NK even continued to do missile tests even after meeting with Trump.
The terrifying thing is that while Commodore is obviously pro Putin anti Democracy which currently is anti-America, his positions are much more mainstream MAGA than you'd think. Republican Senators are not there yet thank God, but the base of their voters are there, and I assume most of the GOP House is there. Let this be a lesson for those on the verge of buying into Commodore's Bullsh$t: Putin isn't the first and won't be the last corrupt dictator to threaten nuclear war. The answer to our future as a global society is NOT to just roll over and allow every two bit dictator to invade and take over sovereign land the size of Portugal with force by brutally murdering thousands of people JUST BECAUSE they make threats. Should the US and NATO be talking to Putin and diplomats to find avenues for potential diplomacy???... of course, but you guys are forgetting two key points: A. Ukraine is not part of NATO and controlled by the US. They cannot dictate the lives of the millions of Ukrainians or they are no better than the Russians. It's the decision of the Ukranian's on what type of country they want for themselves. It's not our call, but it is our call to guide NATO's support, or decline of support based on our interests. B. If you constantly publicly beg and plead to gangster thug terrorists what do you think that tells them???.... Exactly... that they get something of value by doing what they are doing.
A reminder that there is still lingering problems on the left with the sympathetic talking points in Russia's favor: It's utter nonsense that the US is "Isolated" in it's "support for the war against Russia... to weaken it severely." If you listen to people like Chomsky, you'd think that Putin has no agency whatsoever. I think Chomsky has done some great activist work in the past with speaking out about Vietnam, and Iraq. However I do get kind of tired of those old voices on the left that live in such an overly idealistic bubble. Yes, I'm sure the war industry loves the U.S. buying new weapons to send to Ukraine. Yes, we need to focus on climate change as it's an existential threat, and in a vacuum it's more important than some farm land in Eastern Ukraine. However these talking points from the far left leave out any nuance and context. "If the US would just TALK to the Russians"... is such an ignorant take. The left can certainly be anti-war, and anti-industrial military complex, pro climate science, etc. without using their own propaganda techniques to sell books or whatever.
Exactly. Tomorrow Putin could meet with Blinken, UN reps, Macron, etc. etc. and give terms that he will remove all troops from Ukraine, and sign a long term peace agreement with Ukraine, and NATO that outlines terms for NEITHER side violating sovereign country terms in exchange for removal of all sanctions, admission back to the G7, and the 2030 World Cup to be hosted there. It's very likely that Russia would just like that be welcomed back to the global community IF there was basically no more risk that they'd invade again. I think the West would take that deal, and Russian citizens, the oligarchs, and the hard liners probably all take that as a win. More of a win than some small chunk of farmland in Eastern Ukraine that is nothing but a mass grave at this point. So where is the condemnation FOR PUTIN not sitting at the table with the West? Why is it only Biden that is the enemy here who could just make the world right as rain tomorrow and everyone would sing kumbaya if only Biden would "just TALK" to Russia??? It's ridiculous. I'm sick and tired of the far right and far left living in such a fantasy land. Yes... Biden should pursue peace talks. No... he cannot force Putin to the table and he can't just force Zelensky to give up 1/3 of his country to a foreign invader who murdered hundreds of thousands of innocence. Can you imagine after 9/11 anyone saying that W Bush should give the Al Qaeda South Dakota because Bin Laden was threatening to fly planes into the Sears Tower?? That's how ridiculous some of the commentary is from the MAGA crowd and the few on the left.
So just to be clear, if you agree with these tweets, then if Russia tells the US to surrender and be a vassal state of Russia or they will nuke us, the US should comply? Since avoiding nuclear war is the most important thing?
Great idea - new rule, anytime you invade a place illegally, commit a bunch of war crimes, and then get pushed out you get to "redo elections" to see whether or not you can stay. Seriously come get your boy Elon - @tinman @Commodore @AroundTheWorld - he's not making any sense again.
