From that list I would too. But that's more of an indictment on the list than anything.

Just preseason but feel like the contract is going to be something that will get to KPJ thought out the season.

Teams OVERPAY restricted FA's to force other teams to let them go.

How many teams have the cap space to make freakin kpj a 30 million offer sheet? Now take those and cross off any who believe in advanced stats/analytics. How many are left?

Brunson's might be, but Herro's is actually a deal IMO...He's got serious game, and is dedicated.

My bet is that if we don't sign him, he will get 20m a year......that is where I think he will land, but it might be higher.

Then just sign and trade him or if it’s completely absurd let him walk, you don’t want bad money on your books

I think its better to just lock KPJ now to 20-25 a year for 5 yrs.

Just get rid of destractions and let the kid ball. He has shown in 1 preseason game he can change his ways, from an immature kid last year preseason who never saw a shot he didnt like to a young leader stepping up and trying to make plays for others before himself.

A lot of people keep saying its just 1 preseason but you can see his behavior and mentality in this 1 game and he didnt even have a good game, he had a crappy game but still played within the system. I'm a lot more confident starting him at pg and giving him 2-3 yrs to learn the ropes.

That's a terrible contract that Miami would love to dump.

What if he doesn’t improve and is pretty much the same as he was last year? Now you have 100+ million in basically dead money. How can you be 100% certain that a guy who was horrible as a rookie, horrible his 2nd year, and horrible his 3rd year will all of a sudden be worth 20-25 a year for FIVE years?

Desperate teams will, either to retain a player because they can't afford to lose them, or to lure a player away from another team because they have nothing to build around.

The Knicks and the Heat are two prime example of that. The Knicks have literally no other player other than RJ Barrett that they could feasibly build around, and so they threw a big contract at him because they have no other options (and also because they have not retained a FRP past their rookie contract in decades). If the Knicks had the roster that the Rockets have now, along with RJ Barrett, RJ Barrett will still not have an extension.

The same can be said for the Heat, Herro is integrated into their roster as their leading shot taker. They cannot afford to lose him for nothing, and so the best option they have is to retain him.

The situation is similar to when the Rockets gave Chris Paul his massive super max extension. He has played better since leaving Houston, but nobody thought he was worth the money. However, the Rockets don't have a choice but to give it to him since it was their best move.

The same cannot be said about KPJ. The Rockets aren't trying to retain a championship core and they aren't desperate for talent.
