Im ok building a dominant defense. It would possibly allow you to win without star caliber QB play especially with a heavy dose of Pierce. Truly dominant edge players are the 2nd most valuable players on a team so sign me up - Anderson is as close to bust proof as you can get.
This is understandable but what does Caserio do at QB next season (assuming it’s not Mills)? Doubt he’d want to tie up cap space on vets like Ryan, Wentz, Winston, etc…But the only other option is cheap garbage vets like a Mariota, Geno, Trubisky, etc.
It can be Mills and with better skill players unless he really really proves to be unplayable. And if he sucks again great and if he does better with better skill players fine. But maybe Kyle Allen if Mills just shows he’s incapable. Draft BPA
If things don't improve rather significantly, I'm not sure Caserio can go into next season with Mills.
Yep, thanks for making my point. This isn't the year to be drafting a QB. I didn't get a chance to watch Kentucky vs Ole Miss. How did Kentucky manage to keep the score so close with Levis playing badly?
That #2 for Kentucky looks like he might be a monster by his junior season. Probably Levis best weapon.
I am encouraged by what the scouts say about Levis, but his turnovers have to be a concern. It’s easy to say he doesn’t have the talent the other two have, which is true, but would still like him to reign in the aggressiveness and use it smarter
Really, as long as it’s Bryce or Levis if we go QB I’ll be happy. I will support stroud if we draft him, like I do every young Houston kid, but I’ll have my worries.
He did, and that’s where there’s hope. But to do what Allen is tough, putting that type of trajectory on anyone is tough. Went from one of the worst completion percentages ever to a 70% guy. I agree with you though, I like chance takers but I like smart aggression too. Stroud has that, I just have my doubts.
When the pressure is on you and basically you alone to win games, I can understand the risk taking. Would love to be in the room in the offseason when the pro teams are running whiteboard drills and playbook memorization stuff with him.
Yeah, they’re saying he’s going to shine in that setting. The physical tools are ridiculous, if he has the interviews and playbook recognition, he’s going to shoot up draft boards. If he was 21 and not going to be 24 at start of season I would take him 1 overall
If you think he's the guy at age 24 then you pick him and be thankful that you got your guy for the next 10-12 years.
I don't see it with Levis.. Bryce playing for Lovie and this kind of dysfunction is a scary thought... Never seen paid attention to Stroud because all Ohio St QBs have his kind of season.. With that said, I absolutely love Ewers for next year draft but I know better than to hope he plays for Texans... Never works out that way... lol... I'm with those saying BPA in the draft...These mfers need everything and then some..
I think Cameron Ward becomes a clear mid to late first rounder if he has a good day Saturday against USC. I want Anderson, Murphy or Bresee with that first pick so Im looking beyond Stroud and Young this year. However, I do want a QB this year because I would be targeting Trayveon Henderson and Marvin Harrison Jr with the 2 firsts next season. I think Henderson ends up being a bigger, faster CMC and Harrison looks like a possible Michael Thomas clone.
I know some guys here are lower on Stroud for whatever reason(s), but take some time to watch where he is placing his throws. He's making NFL level window passes on the regular going back to last season capped by a ridiculous Rose Bowl performance. He doesnt have the arm talent of a Levis or Ewers perhaps, but he is more than a one read QB. His touch is really REALLY impressive. Its what inspires me to push him as a successful franchise NFL QB. I wish he was a bit more athletic with the ability to scramble, but as a pure passer in the intermediate field with IQ and decision making he's as good as it gets.
