Great regular season for Garcia 15-8 3.72 ERA. About as solid a 5th starter as you'll find in the majors.
If he has 13 at bats: 5 hits would be 0.2996. Rounds up to 300, but technically below 6 hits would give him 0.3015, safely above 300
There are a bunch of them. And this list is only through 2014. https://valueoverreplacementgrit.com/2014/07/09/pitchers-with-a-lower-era-than-whip-in-a-season/
He's ahead of Urquidy and Brown for now. Most teams do not have 2 SPs pitchers better than Garcia (quality of stuff and generally healthy enough to always pitch). Really hope they don't trade Garcia. Hope they don't trade any of the starters, but if they do...hope it is Urquidy. Though I hate saying that because I like Urquidy.
He had a dicey couple of months, but it looks like he has rebounded well. Does he go to the pen for the playoffs?
I'd guess to the pen. It was more like a month of average followed by a month of dicey. Lumping average with dicey makes the dicey look longer. Lump the average with the 1st half and you have near 4 months of 3.65 ERA pitching, a month of dicey pitching, ended with a month of 1.86 ERA pitching. Edit: This is using ERA as basis of how well pitching. Personally, I think he looked better than average in the month prior to being dicey and has gotten lucky to have an ERA that low lately.
Home field advantage every series vs everyone in the AL and everyone but the Dodgers if we are lucky enough to make it to the World Series.
yyyeeaaaaahh. About those TPS reports. I’m going to go ahead and have to have you talk to the Bob’s about that. Remember the honor was all on their side of the table. Classic.
Braves look scary again. Like they look impossible to beat somehow. If we are lucky enough to make the WS and we face either ATL or LA, we will be major underdogs.
Thanks for that list Probably should have said with at least 50 IP. There are a ton of pitchers with less than 30 IP on that list. I counted only 3 times a pitcher with at least 50 IP and an ERA over 1.00 have a WHIP higher than their ERA. Which is what I would have expected.
