I like the visual of bloodbaths with Atlanta and then the Mets. I'd laugh if the NLCS was STL and ATL.
To the winner goes the best odds of going to the World Series among NL teams, to the loser...a wild card series versus the Padres and a 5-game NLDS against the Dodgers if they win the WC series.
He doesn't like to start anybody Click adds to the roster right away if he has a choice. I'm sure he'll bench McCormick tomorrow against a lefty.
The only thing wrong with that lineup from perfection for post season is Yuli instead of A Diaz. Make that simple substitution and you have the optimal playoff lineup.
Switch Gurriel and McCormick or Gurriel and Vazquez. Or, even better, play Diaz at 1B instead of Gurriel.
Agreed. Our ole buddy Big Game Charlie Morton goes Sunday night Pulling for Charlie to do his thing. Check out these matchups: DeGrom vs Fried Scherzer vs Wright (20 game winner) Bassitt vs Morton Our best against your best.
Optimal Offense? Altuve Pena Yordan Bregman Tucker Diaz THEN (LHP) Chas Vazquez Yuli/Mancini OR (RHP) Vazquez Yuli/Mancini Chas Don't give me too much crap, I just made this up as I was typing.
I’d be fine with that- Yuli can play and hit 9th against LHP. He should be an auto sit against RHP. I don’t hate Peña at the 2 as we’ve had a ton of success doing that this year. I just would love to see us once stack our best hitters 1-4 with the best hitter on the team 2nd like the new saber book says to do so.
You can stack hitters if you have quality lineup depth. If you don't (cough, cough), you're telling the other SP (and for later, manager/bullpen) that you have 1 "inning" every ~3 that can hurt you. The Angels have done the "top 4" stack with great success recently.
