You'll have to excuse him - remember I warned about this back when the deal started to fall apart - the Musklords (@tinman @TheresTheDagger @AroundTheWorld @Commodore ) have a hard time keepign track if Elon (and, by implication, they as well) OWNS us by OWNING Twitter or OWNS us by NOT OWNING Twitter and sometimes they forget.

Personally, I think Elon having to own twitter and then having it ruin his life could be the most amusing outcome of all, so in true MUSKLORD fashion I'm for it since it has nothing to do with me and is the absolute trolliest, most sophomoric way to go.

What did you get done this week? (other than a few, sometimes mildly amusing acidic posts on the BBS)

P.S.: Parag sounds exactly like the passive aggressive beta in his texts he has been coming across as everywhere else.

Meanwhile back in the real world, instead of the fantasy Musklord world of alphas* like @Commodore @TheresTheDagger @AroundTheWorld @tinman my takeaway and those of others from these texts is what a bunch of syncophantic dopes guys that normally portray themselves as tech overlords - billionaires like Larry Ellison and Mark Andreesen, anong others end up looking like. They end up offering to just throw money down a well with him, no questions asked. Lol, "long view" geniuses here

In no time, the texts were the central subject of discussion among tech workers and watchers. “The dominant reaction from all the threads I’m in is Everyone looks ****ing dumb,” one former social-media executive, whom I’ve granted anonymity because they have relationships with many of the people in Musk’s texts, told me. “It’s been a general Is this really how business is done? There’s no real strategic thought or analysis. It’s just emotional and done without any real care for consequence.”

    ***

A lot of people thought buying Twitter was a bad idea financially - pages and pages were written on this! - but Elon's chorus of yes men egged him on more or less the same enthusiasm as @tinman ragging on black hobbits

I mean, maybe Elon should employ more "beta cuck soy boys" @Commodore to actually push back and save him from his worst impulses? From what i can see, the Twitter soy board more or less schooled the **** out of him getting him to pay twice as much as Twitter's worth - and that's Musk's own opinion per Del Ch!

*I find it very funny that the Rogan/alt right/Musklord/Shapiroheads unironically use terms like "alphas" and " betas" while **** posting. The first character i remember who used the term in that way at length was Brucie the steroid chomping loudmouth idiot from Grand Theft Auto 4 in the late 2000s.

That character was supposed to be a joke, a figure of ridicule! Not a role model for middle aged dopes! Cmon Man!

Started reading the above post, but then it sounded like the incoherent ramblings of a meth head, so I stopped reading.

New proposal, I surrender and give you everything you want!

This is bizarre, but his deposition is in a few days so good chance of it being a stunt.

    Edit LOL:

Musk’s legal team was getting the sense that the case was not going well, as Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick sided repeatedly with Twitter in pretrial rulings, according to one person familiar. Even with the late emergence of a Twitter whistleblower who alleged executives weren’t forthcoming on security and bot issues, there were concerns Musk’s side would not be able to prove a material adverse effect, the legal standard required to exit the contract.
Legal team realizing things were not going well is some "This is fine" firedog stuff.

The last thing I posted here was in July, when I said:

Unfortunately for Elon, he did sign a legally binding deal where he stupidly waived due diligence and it's not going to be so easy to get out of. I don't know that I can see anyone forcing him to actually buy a $40B company, but if he does get out of it, he's going to have to pay many billions of dollars and come to an agreement with Twitter - his $1B out-clause isn't going to cut it. And that's ignoring the various shareholder lawsuits and SEC disclosure issues he's facing. This saga isn't remotely over.

As it turns out, the court actually *was* going to force him to buy the company at the price and with interest accruing the last few weeks (TheChanceryDaily is an excellent source if you were following the story) - I was definitely wrong that the court wouldn't force him to actually buy, but Twitter demanded Specific Performance and both Twitter and the court were in agreement that no amount of damage payments could compensate the damage he did to the company. He tried every avenue possible to get out of it and failed. In the end, he's going to have pay $44B for a company he doesn't want and who's value he has destroyed over the last 6 months. He's going to inherit a staff that hates him. He's exposed both himself and his wealthy friends as buffoons in having their private text messages publicized (the only adult in the room was the guy who managed this perfectly representing Twitter shareholders, the CEO). He lost every single pre-trial argument in the case and has been mocked numerous times by the courts. He's wrecked his reputation and any future deals he attempts will be met with skepticism and/or harsh terms. He has multiple shareholder lawsuits and SEC invesigations pending. And as a little icing on the cake, he's going to pay all the legal fees for both sides of this lawsuit, since he'll end up owning the company that sued him.

He handled his takeover about as well as Putin is handling his.

All that said, this isn't quite over yet. Twitter will need changes to this before they agree to his latest terms:

There's no way Twitter will exit their lawsuit without better legal guarantees than the above (perhaps escrow or something of the sort) - there's simply no reason to trust Musk. As of now, Musk is still scheduled to be deposed on Thursday.

As I said, I don't care if Elon overpays. I just want to see this Parag guy ("what did you get done this week" lol) fired, and Twitter to stop arbitrarily censoring stuff.

    What's the dish on parag?

He seemed to have his employees back, but I haven't kept track of the drama.

this foreshadows the death of Trump's social media platform, Truth Social, as Elon will not be funding that SPAC

I haven’t been following this closely but this doesn’t seem like a win for Musk.
