I can't speak to Germany's extremists of either ilk, but one thing I am sure of is that @glynch doesn't support Putin and his regime's invasion of Ukraine. He might be against our support of Ukraine based on the idea that those billions going to Ukraine should instead be spent in this country to help those in need, a position which I could see him taking (I'm all for spending those billions, and more, to support Ukraine because I view Putin as akin to Hitler's b*stard step-child and incredibly dangerous), but we'd have to ask him.

    You out there, somewhere, @glynch?

Yeah; I don't think he supports Putin, but he seemed to always say George Bush is just as bad as Putin, and he likes to blame everything on NATO and the US.

While Bush's invasion of Iraq was a catastrophe, both for the US and Iraq (an enormous humanitarian disaster for Iraq, also contributed immensely to destabilizing the region), George W. Bush also did some good things during his time in office. If there is such a thing as "pure evil," Vladimir Putin is pure evil.

No one in this country doesn't believe Russia isn't committing war crimes. You couldn't be more wrong. There is no political reason for not harshly critiquing Russia. Illegal war, war crimes, etc.

It's crazy how someone in power lies to themselves to their ruin. Putin is done. I wonder what Ukraine 's odds were and how powerful the military was or wasn't

I guess putin could still be thinking war of attrition and scaring Europe with nuclear blackmail and heating related protests into backing down and forcing Ukraine to stand down in exchange of Nato membership. Russia becomes the new Iran and trades energy with China/India - it is closed off but putin's regime survives through violent suppression of unrest. If it uses tactical nukes, it becomes a world pariah and Putin wants to be cool enough to have at least SOME friends (other than Kim Jong un). It will be a sad state of affairs for regular russian citizens - hopefully they have enough courage to rise up (and cause the division of their country that the west is silently praying for).

Random gross video time, 2 videos demonstrating that:

    1. Russians apparently give no f***s about recovering their dead and
    2. Lots of newly displaced Ukranian pets/livestock gotta eat.

Spoilered for bodies, you can see some guts in the second video, but nit even remotely close to the grossest photos/videos I've seen thus far. But seriously don't click if you don't want to see dead people. You've been warned.

I think the China/Korea/1950 analogy is apt.

Putin will be dead by Christmas. He knows it.

Between the pipeline and the annexation, these were Russia's attempts at justifying their upcoming possible use of nukes in an effort to win back the war. The rest of the world doesn't buy it. Putin going to go out still trying to be a tough guy.

And for what? It was better for him when he had the world believing he actually was a tough guy. He's going to end up like Gaddafi, instead.

Yes. Putin made a major miscalculation with actually going to war. In February he still had the leverage of threatening war and using energy supplies to press for concessions from Ukraine and the West. Once the actually invaded and the Russian military was exposed for the being the disorganized unmotivated mess that it is most of that leverage disappeared.
