It isn't about how much time the Democrats put into it, it is controlling the more radical part of the party. Also, while elected officials haven't put a lot of time into this, the supporters of the LGBTQ+ agenda have definitely put a lot of time and effort into it.

You can get pissed off, but it will likely work. It works well with the psyche of a lot of people. The Democrats struggle at that part of it.

People in the middle that are not highly political are adverse to change unless it directly benefits them.

How is it not about how much time the Democrats put into it? Republicans talk about like it’s at the top of their agenda list. Why?

Who is this radical part of the party, and how much influence do they have in the party? They literally label everyone in the party radical left from Joe Biden on down. U will not see a Republican attack ad not saying the Dem opponent isn’t a radical. Oz says it every single time he speaks about Fetterman.

Of course they’ve put a lot of time into it, it’s directly affecting them. You’d swear Biden and the rest are all board members of the LGBTQ Association.

Fear mongering about something doesn’t mean it’s real. Democrats struggle because Republicans just make sh*t up with impunity and without consequence.

1 trans person on the swim team blows up like half of women’s sports is on the verge of being trans. Ridiculous.

the main LGBTQ issue that Dems focus on is protecting gay marriage and making sure it doesn’t end up like abortion which is why a bill has been introduced codifying same sex marriage, something that is supported by 70% of Americans in polls

all this stuff about drag queens in classrooms, making up lies like schools are providing litter boxes for kids that now identify as cats and dogs, and teachers are grooming kids is nothing more than ridiculous nonsense…invisible boogeymans that Republicans amplify 50 fold because they have nothing other than cultural wars and “woke”…so it’s no surprise that a party that has nothing besides that will make those things a far bigger issue than they are in reality…they will lie, scream, and project in order to do so

People are weirder and weaker than ever. If you can't raise your kids properly, it's your fault, quit crying about how cultural influences hurt your butt so bad.

This is the major shift the party has taken since Trump. It's all about fear mongering, lies, and just absolute BS, hoping some blinded follower will believe it as fact. The party has morphed into a Q crazy, right wing radical, hate spewing bunch of con artists, with most of their time consumed with spewing their toxic messages, and voting NO to anything beneficial to Americans the Democrats try to initiate into policy. They just do it out of hate and spite, not caring who suffers because of it.

because Democrats are the ones who introduced a bill protecting veterans from burn pits, they voted no on it and then fist bumped each other on the Senate floor…they care about the troops tho

after major pushback and outrage, they then turned around and voted yes

capping insulin at $35 - they vote no

putting an end to gas price gouging - they vote no

money to help with the baby formula shortage - they vote no (they’re pro-life tho)

paid family leave - the alleged pro-life party opposes

child tax credit - they voted no

Medicare and SS - they want to cut or do away with

    and so much more

they finally get their major “win” that they’d been campaigning on for decades by overturning abortion…funny how they now refuse to praise that victory and want the topic to be about anything but abortion…Why is that?

aside from culture wars, they have nothing

That's Republicans in a nutshell! If it helps them it's justified. If it helps anyone else it's socialism. I don't even think DeSantis had to beg. Biden just offered. Remember when Biden asked the governors to help supply National Guard troops for the inauguration after the insurrection and DeSantis refused? That's the kind of man Right Wing Ron is.

I can imagine her husband has the same issue with her that many of us have with our parents. They’ve completely changed into unrecognizable people who spout conflicting, hypocritical, nonsensical conspiracy theories.

Every conversation no matter how benign or unrelated ends up down a political Q hole. You try and navigate around it and you can’t it’s exhausting.

It’s going to be an interesting world when political affiliation is going to end up being the number one filter on dating apps.

It is kind of amazing how a conversation about ping pong can shift into “Biden has dementia” when I chat with my father.

Luckily I know how to ignore it now.

My Wild Ass Guess is that MTG is spending all of her time in DC and cavorting around the country and not taking care of "business" at home. Dollars to donuts, her soon to be ex-husband is banging his secretary or the waitress at the local diner or ...

Yeah that doesn't work with true believers like folks in my family. They'll say "where did you get your information from... CNN!!!" They are way too well trained to engage like that. I've asked before for the evidence, and got sent a QAnon youtube video that is a 30 minute diatribe that starts out basically spouting a Bernie Sanders campaign speech and then slowly devolves into the reason things are this bad is because of liberalism, and then gets into the secret Kabal, and then of course the only answer is Donald Trump.

If you really do push them to show you where they got their evidence, they'll gladly push that crap on you like it's the Bible. Maybe you get a Ben Shapiro or a Steven Crowder clip from a younger true believer who wants to seem more socially acceptable, but it's the same crap in the end... just with a dorky angry millennial instead of a dramatic QAnon video voiceover.

It'll take decades to deprogram 30 to 40% of Americans... and that's assuming they lose big time in the next few elections enough for the right to realize they need to dial it back... and good luck with that. All I see coming is a doubling down.

The only thing I can do is basically say "no politics please" and make comments that insinuate that I wont be sending my kid to grandma's for a week this summer if you unleash this on me, or my kid. With family I found that if they understand that in a civilized manner, they'll value their relationship with their grandkids enough to hold back unless there's an inch of runway given. That's really all I can do at this point, and it's that understanding that has kept our close and extended family mostly together I think.

    Pretty freaking sad times.
