If you truly believe that people expressing reservations because of aforementioned risks on folks that can’t provide informed consent (read on this and relation to medical treatment) you have some serious issues you need to talk over. When would a person's biological sex be different than the person's "sex assigned at birth" (assuming accurate visual inspection)? If there is a difference then it seems using "sex assigned at birth" is more relevant for the targeted audience. As an example. Let said a person was assigned male but somehow is actually biologically female. He felt like a female and wanted to "block" the development of male sexual characteristics. But then puberty hit and his body actually start showing female sexual characteristics - at this point, she would no longer want to "block".
Which happens more often? A juvenile getting procedures to halt puberty or a student at a public school getting crappy instruction because of dedicated teachers leaving the profession or qualified folks who would be teachers not being willing because of pay, bureaucracy, and lack of support /respect?
I just find the phrase “assigned sex” makes it seem somehow artificial or not real (a mere third party designation that doesn’t match who they feel they are, as you say), and yet the very fact they undergoing puberty for it indicates that it is real. That’s what I was commenting on. Just found the phrasing confusing.
Got it, I was initially confused with your statement because I don't find the phrase artificial or confusing at all... when I read the guidelines from the medical professional, I thought it's exactly how it should be (logically). FWIW, I didn't know anything about its popularity usage of it.
I don't get the issue here. When someone makes fun of a bad person because they are bald it implies that being bald is a trait to make fun of. Same concept applies here. I don't understand why you care? It's a social media post. No one was arrested for misgendering. And I hope this also isn't an attempt to portray transgender people disproportionately prone to pedophilia and child molestation.
Raises a lot of interesting questions doesn’t it? Women have traditionally had very low levels of violent crimes and sexual crimes. Some women are not happy or willing to take ownership for trans women’s crimes or actions.
