Right wing trollism is a default state. When most of your talking points invoke words like "woke" it's going to be a hollowed out ideology solely based on "owning the libs". The few conservative posters who have actual conservative beliefs like @StupidMoniker ... Notice how people actually engage in lengthy nuanced debates? Any of these posters who just troll can do that if they willingly chose but they can't because again, most of their thoughts are at the click bait meme level.
The ratio here is overwhelmingly liberal. I think his tweets serve as a palate cleanser for the left center-left opinions on here. 2-3 folks usually respond to the more substantial accusations, so that gives some exposure to the debate outside. Maybe I'm used to the situation and normalized what happens here, but I don't find the pattern of people drive by posting right leaning opinions grating. Ugly cartoons is a different matter, but that's just me. I've also noticed a cycle where newer members get dogpiled as part of a feeling out process by regulars on here. It can be alienating where one could agree about several positions then get demonized for one issue like LGBTQ or Abortion. I don't know how to solve it outside of me giving people the benefit of the doubt without knee jerking or projecting grievances from a right-wing troll here or in real life. Seems like a cultural breaking-in for any group. You either like this cesspool or find one to your liking.
I've never seen a dog pile from a new poster who creates a thread with a sincere position saying they feel uncomfortable with abortion or feel uncomfortable with children having physical operations for gender reassignment. But if they start a new thread "expressing" these beliefs by using memes or saying "woke" this and "woke" that, then yes expect people to be like "u dumb". Basically what I'm saying is that there is a style of posting that is more conducive to having cordial debates and posting styles that are less conducive to that. The posters who come here and post in a style that isn't conducive to cordial discussion will be met with people not taking those opinions seriously.
You have a back bone and some of the other conservative posters do but some are honestly just trolls. Those that are not trolls have a back bone, and it isn't easy when 80% of the board is left of center. If it is actual discourse, I agree. There is a lot of just spamming articles by a few posters on both dies. Os Trigonum isn't conservative. Commodore doesn't engage much, but he is always a gentlement. Alamo and you are usually gentlemen as well.
I don't think you need to directly insult other posters to be toxic. Right wing trolls here bring toxicity by not insulting other posters but spamming toxic content like "libsoftictok" pretending and being coy that this type of stuff invokes sincere discussion rather than just click bait edgelording.

Yes it's pretty hostile here for conservative viewpoints - I certainly see that. But it's also true that many conservative posters don't debate but mock which triggers a good deal of that hostility.
