Naw .... at least for me it'll take more than one, or even a handful of bad games to reach DefCon3

Now if he plays as poorly as Jalen Green did from the start of the season up until the allstar break ..... I'll start getting concerned. Green was literally the worst player in the league in net rating over that span .....

The turn around he made was a huge, from historically bad to passable .... and you don't expect players to make that kinda jump mid season. I'm not sure you expect that dramatic a change over an offseason ....

Thanks to @jordnnnn for the stats - Green's Net ratings:

    Pre All Star: -17.3
    Post All Star: -1.7
    Last 15: +0.3

If Smith is a -17 for an extended period of time, I think damn near the whole board will be concerned.

That said. I don't expect Smith to be anything close to a double digit negative, at worst maybe a -5 early on in the season, and quite possibly a net positive .... because of his defense.

It's totally sad that this franchise, historically known for its great big men is now the butt this joke.

Just think about all the great big men who have played for this franchise going back to the very beginning thru 2015 .... and now this? SMH

Most of the minutes from 2016-2020 were played by Capela who wasn't exactly garbage. Then they got desperate to make Westbrook work somehow.

It’s not like there’s a lot of great big men these days like back then

Good post. Another point for why people should freak out if Jabari we're to be double digit negative is that lightning rarely strikes twice. If Jabari were to be playing that bad it's HIGHLY unlikely for him to have a Jalen type swing to the positive, he's most likely just going to be a bust. I also think Jabari may start out in the negative but it will be around a -5 to - 7 until he gets his bearings in the NBA.

If Jabari is 6’11. Banchero is 7’2. They did not look the same size during summer league.

Google their side by side pics from the draft. Jabari was clearly taller then.

Maybe its just the pics I've seen. Doesn't matter. My point was there's no way Paolo is 3" taller than Jabari.

There were other eye witnesses in Vegas that noted that Jabari is taller than Paolo.

Why can't we just give our rookies, especially the 19 year olds, a solid year and a half before we start making any negative judgements

The hair adds 4 inches to Paolo, it's the same **** that happened with Cunningham last year. Dude's hair fools people into thinking he's taller.

My take - Jabari definitely not shorter, could be an inch taller.... who knows or cares lol.

Paolo is certainly thicker. If anything I'd say for the next 3-5 years Jabari needs to work on building bulk and Paolo needs to make sure he doesn't bulk out too much.. Both can be equally hard, or easy.

Jabari was listed at 220 lbs earlier, but now is listed at 213 lbs. Like I said before, I don't put much value in these measurements, but while he didn't look big, he didn't look 213 lbs light to me. Maybe he is. When he went to Auburn, Pearl said he had him put on weight and he did. Jabari put on something like 20 lbs (200 lbs to 220 lbs) from what I read. So he lost 7 lbs since then? Weird.

Most times we're talking about an individual player's lack of D or questioning when he'll start focusing on D. With Bari they're talking about his D like it's already there. Vets and coaches confirm.

Other times we're questioning when individuals will improve their shooting. With Bari, he's already there. KPJ mentioned it in his interview. Almost with a laugh like "yeah Bari can shoot".

He is going to feed off the catch and shoot while feeding his teammates extra opportunities off defensive stops.

If factoring in skill on both sides of the ball, he's the most solid kid they've drafted since maybe Yao if not Dream. That's saying a lot. In my world at least.

True but Jabari has the frame to bulk up in a meaningful way. I don't think he is going to have any issues in that department. He's really not any skinnier than most rookies anyway.
