I am going to watch 2 consensus great movies every month I have never seen before through the end of the year, maybe more over the breaks. At the top of my list are some Daniel Day Lewis movies. What should be my 1st or what order should I watch them? There will be Blood? Last of the Mohicans? Gangs of New York? I have hard time watching movies over 2 hours so wish me luck. I have some others as well to fill some blind spots.
I would recommend the recent Best Director Tourney that was on here for some great selection from outstanding directors. Here’s two selections from featured directors that I recommend Dr. Strangelove Apocalypse Now
Three days of the Condor with Robert Redford is a nice taut little 70s spy/chase movie. If you like movies like Enemy of the State, it's like that before computers. Good fun. I love the hell out of The Third Man, another sort of spy movie. The plot and story are great, but it is very much in black-and-white and very old. But I would honestly recommend it to anybody if they could deal with that. Some absolutely great lines and acting from Orson Welles. The Sting is a nice crime caper film also with Robert Redord, if you haven't seen it. Off the top of my head, they would be Tier 1 on "Intro to the Classics", as good films that are easy to watch.
The movie definitely has problems but there are some really amazing scenes. The bear needs it's own franchise.
I was a bit underwhelmed, and it dragged a bit toward the ending and did not make much sense if I remember correctly. It looked great, and the action was good, but I have to give it a 6.5 worth watching but nothing really memorable.
Have seen all of those and The Five Heartbeats is one of my all time favorites, great great movie. This is one of my all-time favorite scenes in any movie it gives me chills every time.
Not into period pieces. Have seen Raising Arizona (Loved it) I have never seen princess bride completely it's one of those movies you think you have seen but have never actually watched the entire thing, I need to put it on my list.
