It was similar to when Yordan watched his ball hit off the wall a couple of months go and only got a single. Yordan was very apologetic and humble about his mistake.
While the Astros pitching has been very consistent this year, usually, the offenses for most teams are much more consistent than their pitching. Pitchers get hurt too much. One year, the Astros top two playoff starters are semi-wild Framber and Garcia on one knee...the next year, Framber is one of three Astros aces and Garcia is the most hated SP in an Astros uniform since Mike Fiers.
Maybe not those exact words but pretty damn close... 101 wins, clinched division with weeks left in the season, about to clinch the #1 seed in the AL, best pitching staff in baseball...but their MO has been embarrassing effort all season by morons who are trying to lose.
It's the fun and charm of fandom! Honestly, half of those people are attempting to reverse jinx the Astros in any given game when the team is underwhelming. It's obviously not realistic to expect perfection or for a batter to get a hit every time he comes up, but there are a few trends that one can point to that are either unnecessary or mind-boggling that seem to rear its ugly head from time to time ... i.e: -batting Yuli 2nd repeatedly (and batting him anywhere higher than 6th really) -sitting McCormick against LHP -playing Dubon as a platoon player when he should be an emergency back-up only -not playing/attempting small ball when the offense is in a funk and the Astros are still somehow down only 1 run (and the way they are swinging in those games makes it feel almost impossible to get a run over) -3rd base coaching blunders -sitting the hot bat for the next game (i.e. after they hit a homer or had a multi-hit game) -too many lineup changes; preventing consistency With that said and all of the gripes out of the way -- this is an awesome team with another 100 win season! Just hope the offense stays awake for the playoffs! Pitching ? We good.
Yeah it can get a bit ridiculous at times but I guess I just don’t understand how that bothers anyone. Those knee jerk comments actually make me laugh pretty hard sometimes.
Well… how else are we gonna get warmed up for Playoff b****ing? You can’t just walk into that not prepared. Takes 162 to get fully immersed in the minutiae of the game. I look around and I think this board is ready.
Wait till Dusty fails to pinch hit for Dubon late in a tight game in a tight series. You gon see some rage then better stay off this board, it ain't for the faint hearted. P.S Tomstro cracked me the fu<k up last year
I said that in jest because of a stupid baserunning move. Think it was when Tucker tried to steal 3rd when he didn’t need to because a base hit would have scored him anyway. There were 2 outs in the inning.
nobody better ever call me a “casual fan” when it comes to the Astros. The arrogance here is heavy. If you sit back and golf clap and snicker silently then who wants to watch a game with you??? FAN IS SHORT FOR FANATIC.
Javier tied a major league record of having 5 outings in which he pitched at least 5 innings while allowing 1 or fewer hits and having at least 1 strikeout per inning pitched.
I agree!! I would however like to see Chas really claim his spot out there. I don’t feel like he’s fully done that.
