This. This is a great team. They will have ups and downs, but overall this team will likely finish 1st or 2nd in Astros wins. I know I complain too much about Dusty not playing his best players (Chas too few PAs since Brantley injury and Yuli too many) and Dusty not always using his full pen/not using a long man (More a previous year problem as bullpen is really deep this year, but it is amazing how often the Astros bullpen is stretched thin despite how much he rides the starters).
Did you read through this thread? It's freakin hilarious. The kneejerk, sky is falling, this is the worst team ever posts are just comedy gold. I don't know how some of these guys get through a day being so emotionally tied to such a tiny sample size of a baseball regular season...one that we've now won over 100 games, again. Another poster said something interesting. We could lose as many as 8 games in the playoffs and still win the World Series. Man these guys are going to have some really bad days if the Astros don't sweep all the way through.
I like seeing the Astros get battle tested like this before the playoffs and to see them respond with this type of resiliency.
maybe just stop worrying about what others post. Some fans are a little more passionate than you and thats ok. Everyone reacts differently. When you go to a game, don’t you ever hear fans get pissed? This is no different. You think fans don’t complain about losses or poor play? Seriously, don’t let other fan posts ruin your day, thats also unhealthy.
Its way more than being passionate its passionate stupidity. Don't let a random game among 162 ruin your day or a loss when the team has won 12 out of 15 maybe you should follow your own advice.
Conclusion - You spend too much time on Clutchfans as you immediately tell other fans how to react to games. You don't have to agree with posters to give them a hearing.
Notice I said it was hilarious. It in no way ruins my day. I enjoy reading the "THIS TEAM SUCKS" posts all while the game is going on in which they win their 100th and 101st of the season for the 4th time in 5.
Stupidity is definitely in the eye of the beholder. But the beneficiary of that label seems to be whether someone agrees with you or not.
No guarantee he is back. I know before the all star break he had told some people within the organization that he may retire. The Astros really want to keep him in the organization if at all possible, either as a catcher or as someone that works for the team. My guess is they talk him into coming back next season and they will either work Diaz or possibly Lee into being the starter in the second half. The Astros have Diaz up now to work with Maldonado and the coaching staff to see if he is going to be serious about catching duties.
All the negativity during the game threads does make me not want to read them anymore. Which is a shame because I live in Mariner's land and this is the only place I can interact with other Astros fans during a game.
I do take my own advice. Also, my posts are both happy and sad. I go with the ebb and flow in real time. Lots of us do. I don’t just come on after the fact and complain about other posts that were in the heat of the moment. Anyone can do that. That is every bit as annoying as someone losing their ****. At least someone losing their **** can be funny. Bemoaning others posts is rarely entertaining at all.
Toronto is perhaps the least likely team anyone should have a desire to play for. Your wealth is NOT secure. It's even worse than California.
I generally give a pass to anything/said posted during a game. who among us hasn’t cussed at Altuve for a dumb out on the basepaths, ya know?
I guess its human nature for some to post more during losses or vent more during bad times... vs. post during wins or extend threads when things are going good. While the Astros haven't lost a lot of series this year, I'd guarantee the game threads are on average longer in series they've lost or split vs. series they've won. This thread is almost the size of the last two Astros series combined (both wins, one against a playoff team on the road that they swept).
I’m sure you’re right about that, but I think that’s a function of team expectations. When we beat an average/below average team, it’s seen as the Astros just taking care of business, (I.e. less discussion-worthy). when we lose to those same teams, folks are annoyed/trying to figure out what happened, which lends itself to more discussion (imo).
