To extend KPJ or not?

Who the hell cares? People compare randos to jordan, hakeem all the time. People predraft compared hasheem thabeet to hakeem, do you still take it seriously?

 

And after a season and a half, Cleveland gave up a "Harden-like" two way player for peanuts just because he threw some food in the locker room.

 

I don't think 18/10 is out of reach for Sengun .... if you extrapolate his per game numbers from his rookie year to 36 minutes a game he'd be at 16.32ppg and 9.35rpg.

BBR has him projected to 17.2 and 9.5 .... which isn't far off that 18/10.

I think the better question is, much like Porter, what do the efficiency numbers look like and how does his play translate to winning games & his advanced statistics last year weren't all that spectacular last season - he'll have to make a significant improvement.

 

I don't want the team to pay him based off of what he could be .... far too often that ends badly for the team.

Per 36 stats are a load of crap imo! Have you seen Boban’s per 36? There’s no way Sengun is putting up 18 &10. Too many other guys are gonna get theirs. Now, is he capable? Absolutely! It’s just not gonna happen. He will have some 22 & 14 type of games, then there’ll be some that are 10 & 8

 

I’m all for letting him earn it this season! I’m also all for locking him up at discount and maybe a team option in it.

 

I don't think either players will hit the projection numbers that have been thrown around here by their respective fanboys, but I DO believe that the odds of Sengun putting up 18/10 are more realistic than KPJ putting up 15/10, 18/8, or the idiotic 20/10 that I have seen at least one person suggest.

 

Anything over $10M would not be a discount with his performance thus far.

 

I disagree big time with that. 18 & 8 is very possible for KPJ. I see him being more like 20/6/5. He’s going to score a lot more now that wood is gone. But hey, let’s hope both hit those projections! It’s better for the team

 

3/45 with team option is a good deal imo. They would jump all over that
