As to the topic, MAGA sucks, but the inflation is not their fault, and it's a cheap excuse for Biden to blame everything on MAGA.

You can blame the Fed since they want folks to think they're the man behind the economic curtain.

The bubble started under Trump, and for whatever reasons Biden kept Powell, so the stain is on him too.

Obviously its not that simple. I mean Biden takes credit for the recovery, so it's more than fair politically he takes the blame for what the "Fed is about to do."

Overall, we avoided a collapse in March 2020 with unprecedented coordination (bailout+intervention+moral hazard) between the fed and Treasury. Covid justified this to an American public that normally despises fat cat socialism, but we already saw signs of a crash when the yield curve inverted months before.

At some point, the fed can't fix the rot and markets will have to correct itself. "In theory" since the Fed has been interfering to the point where some traders haven't lived in a year when they hadn't.

Unless it is forcing privately run businesses to enact rules with which you agree. Or punishing private businesses for disagreeing with the big government. Then you love it.

 

A private business deserves its personal property rights except in the case when the business is woke. Woke is not allowed in DeSantis' house!

 

It's always about protecting the freedom of the individual. My position is consistent. Even if you cannot/do not want to understand that.

 

It doesn't seem that way when you agree with some of the individual's freedom to choose stuff that GOP politicians want to ban and remove. You can't say always when you mean sometimes, depending whose right it is.

Distilling issues into simple memes is part of the issue.... because Covid, the response to Covid, Europe's dependency on a hostile country for energy, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine are all contributing factors.

 

Blaming Biden for inflation only makes sense if you blame him for starting the pandemic. Right-wing nuts do believe the dastardly artist/author/sex worker philanthropist/venture capitalist Hunter Biden may have serious connections to the Wuhan Lab, though. With the right yarn and cork board, I’m sure it will all tie together.

Free markets also mean "survival of the fittest". That means in a free market, the winners will grow and eventually create enough power and clout. These free market winners will then create systems that protect their property AND protect their methods to maximize return on investment. The free market will naturally create a big government. And that big government's sole purpose would be to serve the corporations' interest.
