1-5 should be set, 6-9 is where you make matchup adjustments.

Although I can see A.Diaz hitting 2nd in certain situations. I don't have enough spreadsheets to give a fully informed opinion on that, though.

I wonder if Meyers makes the post season roster?

I read the Chandler Rome piece and it peaked my interest.

Dubon, A.Diaz, and Hensley are all very similar players, defensively.

If Jake is indeed better -

Mickey Storey Said he is on a very strict throwing program and he has shown his arm is as good and healthy as pre surgery. Just that it was never plus to begin with.

They identified his pitch selection and being exploited by MLB pitchers. Said this reset has helped that and his results have been there in AAA.

If these 2 things are true then he is the best choice as the back up CF and late inning pinch runner. He should not unseat McCormick as the starting CF. For better or worse it should be his now until the off season.

The problem is that Dubon is the player he should replace on the playoff roster not Hensley or Y. Diaz

With Meyers, A.Diaz( or Mancini), Hensley, and Y Diaz on the bench, Dubon adds nothing

I have always liked Jake and would love to see him have a Derek Fisher moment. Especially after last post season's injury.

I saw the same report and hope to see Meyers back in Houston soon. A healthy Meyers at CF would be a big improvement to the team. I do not think it matters who he replaces on the roster but Dubon would probably be my first choice.

Replace Dubon. Dusty can’t use him if he’s not rostered.

If Meyers, Hensley, McCormick, and Diaz are all on the roster, there is nothing Dubon does/offers that the other four don't. Would not mind seeing a Dubon DFA + Meyers return come Monday (when the AAA season ends).

Click acquired Mancini and called up Yanier but Dusty has not played them as much as the front office expects. Front office has models for optimal lineups, but Dusty slots Dubon in a nonsensical manner. Despite this organization being "analytical," the manager still has the traditional role, which is not in sync with the front office.

Dusty would not be happy with the personal connection with Dubon... but unlikely Dubon be sent down before the post season due to the lack of options remaining.

He does not need to be sent down to be left off the playoff roster.

Leaving Maton, W Smith or Garcia off the playoff roster does not mean sending them down either.

What? Mancini has started 19 of 21 September games and played 4 innings with 2 at bats in a 20th. (.586 OPS).

To clarify... Expanded rosters in the next two weeks is 28 slots. If you want Meyers to see if he is "fixed," someone goes down. No one with no options will be sent that for that time. Playoff roster has no impact on the options issue.

As for the use of Mancini, it took a month past the deadline for his usage to change from being a platoon player.

Why? You don't like seeing Dubon start regularly?

Front office praying that Meyers is healthy again... and Korey Lee is now "ready" ... and same with Pedro Leon. I think we keep at least one of Mancini or Vazquez.

Just looking at Trea Turner who could work CF, 2B and SS. He would be expensive, but nothing close to Judge. If we could manage a trade for Schmidt, that would be my preference at 1B, but it is a very long shot. Cardinals would need a fortune.

Out of the box idea. Arenaco can opt out. He is now a better 3B than Bregman. Move Bregman to 1B to fill the 1B need.

    C. Maldonado/?/
    1B. Bregman
    2B. Altuve
    3B. Arenado
    SS. Pena
    LF. Alvarez
    CF. Meyer/McCormick/Leon
    RF. Tucker
    DH. ?/Brantley?/Mancini?

I expect Maldonado to be back. He is under contract, but there were rumors that he is considering retirement. I think he stays another year. Vazquez, though he seems nicely settled in, I anticipate will return to Boston, since he seemed happy there, and I assume his family still lives there.

I would LOVE a Trea Turner deal. IMO he is the one big money outside FA I would go after. He is the PERFECT guy to bat 2nd between Altuve and Alvarez. We definitely need a steady contact hitter at the top of the order with Brantley leaving. Highly unlikely but hopefully Crane is willing to pony up some more $$$ for bats to support the pitching. If Dusty stays, perhaps a reunion is enticing? And we play our Spring games in Florida (he's from there, and apparently prefers a Florida ST team over an Arizona one). Just imagine.....

    Altuve 2B
    Turner CF
    Alvarez DH
    Bregman 3B
    Tucker RF
    Mancini 1B
    Pena SS
    Maldy/Lee C
    McCormick LF

Only thing is, a little too RHH-heavy but who cares. Very potent lineup.

Crazy, but Arenado and Trea Turner.

    Altuve 2B 4.6
    Turner CF 4.8
    Alvarez LF 6.4
    Bregman 1B 4.4
    Tucker RF 5.0
    Arenado 3B 7.5
    Pena SS 4.2
    Maldy/Lee C 0.1
    McCormick/Mancini DH 1.2
Probablty have to adjust the line-up to get Arenado higher

I could only envision this happening if they can't work out a deal with JV.
