Yes I am aware - should have expanded in that but still noteworthy…He is miles ahead the best candidate on my side against your side imo
If my side was smart we would put trump in the trash can and not look back - I honestly can’t think of a better candidate from the republican side as far as background and resume,… command of legality issues is important in the battle fight against democrats that much is clear

That's why the lefties hate him so much and try to paint him as a fascist, even though he clearly isn't one. They have done that with every conservative candidate since I first started following politics - Reagan, Bush Sr., Bush Jr., even Romney and McCain. It's their fanatical playbook, and actually gave rise to Trump in the first place. Common sense people are tired of this crap.

It didn't have to be this way but Trump and other Republicans turned down legislation that would have funded more personnel to deal with the backlog of immigrants seeking asylum.

It comes down to the fact that MAGA controls the Republican Party and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, regardless of whether Desantis or Trump is the nominee. So long as that is the case, DeSantis will cater to MAGA and thus cannot be trusted. At least not with my vote.

The Ivy League pedigree is impressive for an average person, but almost a dime a dozen among politicians. Besides, aren’t republicans supposed to be anti ivory tower, anti elitism?

In Biden’s first 100 days in office, he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration. Those actions included:
    1. Stopping the construction of the border wall.
    2. Attempting to halt deportations for 100 days.
    3. Suspending new enrollments in Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP, aka “Remain in Mexico”).
    4. Terminating Asylum Cooperative Agreements (ACAs) with Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.
    5. Ending Prompt Asylum Case Review (PACR) for non-Mexicans, and Humanitarian Asylum Review
    Program (HARP), for Mexicans.

You are an idiot fool if you don’t think Biden’s border crisis is anything but self inflicted

More like anti nonsensical. I wouldn’t say his level of education is a dime a dozen necessarily…DeSantis graduated from Yale with a B.A. magna c*m laude. , he attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 2005 with a Juris Doctor c*m laude. Education is important and more importantly experience oftentimes …I don’t care about the anti ivory tower nonsense

Jussie Smollet couldn’t trust MAGA as well. Sometimes imaginary boogieMAGA is not in your closet…just in your head ..

He also came up with immigration reform bill in his first day in office.

You are an idiot fool if don't think the immigration issues go back much further than this administration.

The extent of the unprecedented border crisis has happened during Biden’s watch, control, acts and decisions…

What? Martha's Vineyard did welcome immigrants looked after them. They also arranged for them to have services in Cape Cod during the winter months where they can have access to transportation, shelter, food, attorneys able to deal with immigration matters.

The fact that you think it would have been more welcoming to keep the immigrants on an island that will leave them isolated and largely shuts down, shows a disregard for their well-being.

Not saying DeSantis does have an impressive resume but such distinctions about military service tend to be scrutinized closely.

But if all you care about is fighting Democrats yes I can see why DeSantis would be a good candidate even if he isn't showing to be a fiscal conservatie or for limited government. For me I can think of a few Republicans who would be better who are actually interested in getting stuff done than just picking fights and trolling Democrats with state tax dollars. For example Larry Hogan Governor of Maryland.

The number of illegal border crossings was higer in 2019. Biden wasn't the President in 2019.
    https://www.axios.com/2021/03/23/data-biden-border-crisis-migrant-children-families

The graph from the site doesn't appear to be posting right but there is a link showing border apprehensions were higher in 2019.

I paint him as a fascist because he does things like performative arrests of actual Florida residents for political narrative spreading.

No you are full of bs. I'm sure some people have done things like called Ronney a racist before but people haven't called Romney or Bush Jr fascist. Hey maybe find some random tweet that said that but in referring to actual thought leaders, politicians etc.

This is ironic because you just listed the "old guard" GOP and Liz Cheney, someone who is prominently part of that old guard GOP you claim have been victims of accusations of being labeled fascist, explicitly said that DeSantis crosses her red line threshold for GOP politicians who are a danger to our democracy. You can ask her why she thinks that.

Interesting. I’m not following the Jussie Smollett reference.

Regarding Trump/MAGA … Is it your position that MAGA is fictional, or some negligible part of the Republican Party? Is it also your position that Republicans politicians do not fear crossing Trump or fear retribution if they criticize him or his base?

I get it - you want to be Republican without having to carry the Trump/MAGA baggage in debates and discussions, so it is easier waive it off with a weird Smollett reference or call it a bogeyman. You’re stuck with MAGA and it’s not fun.

Re DeSantis, the impressive point isn’t his Ivy League achievement. It is that he appears to come from a normal/middle America background (if Wikipedia is to be believed) and isn’t some legacy Bush admit into Yale or a blue blood that got in through name, donation or influence. Yet it doesn’t quite matter to independent minded folks because … he is beholden to MAGA, as are all republicans at this point, and to date, embraces and caters to that crowd.

Crossings and apprehensions are not the same. "Gotaways" is the number that has skyrocketed.

At least they are apprehending some of the bad ones...
