I live in Austin and have for over 40 years. Yes, I feel safe. We have a large dog, and possess various devices that would make for an unpleasant day (or night) for an intruder should someone impinge on our domestic tranquility, but we'd feel safe regardless. Austin, unfortunately, has become a large city. It's far different from the place I visited during the '60's and '70's, when I drove up from Houston for a long weekend at any time of the year, enjoying the lake, the music, the clubs, visiting friends who lived here, always wishing that I did. I had girlfriends who lived in a cottage on the side of Castle Hill on Baylor Street, and a friend who lived in a little wood frame house not far from Mount Bonnell. Rents were cheap (as they were in Houston at the time) and I wish I'd purchased a house in Austin back then. In the summer of 1980, I made the move. Wouldn't live in any other city in the state, although if I were younger, and didn't have so many ties here, we'd leave Texas. The state has changed a great deal, and not for the better.

Joe Biden didn’t cause either, but he’s having to deal with the ramifications of Covid and the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Putin, as I’m sure you recall, was praised by trump for, among other things, attacking democratic Ukraine with his massive Russian military. Both the Russia/Ukraine War and Covid-19 are the drivers of the current high rate of inflation. Biden, in my opinion, is dealing with the two crises as well as can be expected when his party has an incredibly narrow majority in the Senate and a majority of a few seats in the House. Bad luck for Joe and the country, since a much stronger majority would enable him to tackle the attendant issues far more effectively, in my opinion.

We should use data and precedence of types of rhetoric by each side to determine which side is more violent. Prominent outlets like Tucker Carlson (number one cable "news" show in the country) spread a story that Boston Children's Hospital were doing Gynecomastia operations on children for transgender reassignment treatment based on wording that a 17 year old can start scheduling appointments for consultation so that they can have the surgery when they turn 18. Not once has the hospital performed any type of surgery for gender affirming care on a minor and there allegations were purely based on what I just stated. This resulted in bomb threats. These people are dangerous and you have to understand that you should not be respected as a human if you propagate their narratives. We shouldn't respect you. This isn't a joke. Boston Children's Hospital is a hospital my younger brother used throughout his childhood and even still now due to his speciality genetic disorder (osteogenesis imperfecta). Please stop playing around with this anti-woke bs. I know you don't actually believe in this stuff and just use it to trigger people you disagree with but this stuff has real life consequence

Based on the other thread I don't think he was run over solely for being a Republican. Given this happened in North Dakota the driver would have to be a serial killer if this was just about killing any Republican. From what was posted in the other thread it sounds like they had a confrontation that was political related. The killer did have a poltiical bias so was motivated by that but it wasn't a random killing. Either way still horrible and he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
