No no no. The Astros would have to absolutely insult J.V. for him not to come back. Outside of the Dodgers what is another place he can be promised the opportunity to stack up regular season wins year after year?
Jimy was analytics before analytics…. Many of the moves he made that were criticized for being abnormal are commonplace now. He’d have thrived in today’s game.
Kinda like that Hot Wheels van at the bottom of the toy box/chest that you were for sure that **** head Troy from down the street swiped but come to find out you just weren’t paying attention or weren’t thorough enough looking around.
Jimy Williams was an amazing coach and teacher, who didn't put up with the media, and had failings as a manager. One of the most embarrassing things as an Astro fan was him getting boo'd at the ASG in Houston. They drowned out the cheers for Bagwell and pretty much cemented my opinion of random Astrofan. Terry Collins (part 1) was a complete ****ing ******* who made everyone around him uncomfortable with his temper (he also finished 2nd in his Division 5 years in a row to start his career, and got screwed in his rookie year, the '94 strike Astros) Terry Collins (part 2) after 12 years as a coach (and manager, all over the world and minors: Japan, China WBC, etc), got another shot with the Mets. People said he had mellowed out. He took the Mets to the WS in his 5th year and was fired 2 years later.
This is a dumb yet fun yet slightly outdated article: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1131276-25-worst-managers-to-win-a-world-series-championship
I would. However, Brown only went 47 pitches. Ideally he'd have gone for a 4th inning and finished in the 60-65 range to stay fully stretched out.
The next couple of games just got harder. It's hard not to let down after clinching the Division. It's like the return to normal after an adrenaline rush. Everybody tries just as hard, but the energy just isn't there. (reverse jinx I hope)
