Paging the Davis Mills fan club! And @Eddiewassnubbed, why did you change to @Two Sandwiches Fine, he doesn’t “suck”. Fine, he might not be out of the league in 2 years but he ain’t it. Mills fan club says you can’t judge him until basically everything is perfect around him. “Just let him get a RB, top WR/some WRs, a good TE, good OL, a halfway decent defense and only then can you judge him!” Well if he needs everything perfect, he ain’t it. Deshaun’s 2nd year (11-5): RB: Lamar Miller, Alfred Blue WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller(7 games), Keke Coutee, Demaryius Thomas TE: Ryan Griffin, Jordan Akins, Jordan Thomas OL: Julien Davenport-Senio Kelemete-Nick Martin-Zach Fulton-Kendall Lamm RB: Dameon Pierce, Rex Burkhead WR: Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins, Chris Moore, Chris Conley TE: Pharaoh Brown, OJ Howard, Brevin Jordan OL: Laremy Tunsil-Justin McCray-Justin Britt-AJ Cann-Tytus Howard No, no one is confusing them for say the Chiefs or Bengals or Bills but… DMFC: “He had a bad game, it happens to the best QBs too. Does that mean they suck (too)? No.” Blah blah blah So when the AFC is (currently) filled with(see below)…some of y’all are ready to roll with and have anointed Davis Mills as the franchise, as the guy. Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen Joe Burrow Justin Herbert Deshaun Watson Lamar Jackson Derek Carr Russell Wilson Tua Tagovailoa Trevor Lawrence Ryan Tannehill Mac Jones Matt Ryan Davis Mills Mitchell Trubisky Zach Wilson “But but but he’s better than Justin Fields and Zach Wilson!” Da fuq? He’s better than bottom of the barrel? Congrats I guess? “But but but there’s no guarantee Stroud or Young or whoever is better!” So stick it out with Mills? Reminds me of the coaching searches. “Be careful what you wish for! Who are we gonna get better than Kubiak?!” “Be careful what you wish for! Who are we gonna get better than O’Brien?! Winning record every year! (*except when Deshaun got hurt) Won the AFC South 4/6 years!” Fear of the unknown so let’s just stick with what we got. Yeah, stick with Mills. Just make sure he gets a stud RB, all-pro WR, decent pass catching TE, top 10 OL and a great defense and he’ll be good to go. *No, they shouldn’t bench him for Kyle Allen or Jeff Driskel.
I had been considering a name change for a long while. Finally pulled the trigger. Anyways, I don't think Mills is it. My cautious optimism and glass half full approach has gone completely out the window. Will pay more attention to college football now.
That was so disgusting to watch. Instead of throwing the ball out of bound to preserve the clock this dumb@$$ was throwing flat passes when we needed big yardage. Man literally got two separate drives in like 3 mins to score one measly touchdown. Couldn't even get close to a field goal in either of them due to his inability to hit his wide receiver consistently
Unfortunately what you would get is worse, this is our hand for the year and lets see it play out, who knows, maybe he gets better and is our back up moving forward.
You're asking a lot of you think a QB with upside but little experience is suddenly going to put it all together against NFL defenses. At least to the point where they solidify the QB position for your team. Mills was always a long shot, and still is.
It's always a risk when you put someone in with so little experience. Our hands were tied because Watson signed that damn contract. If he hadn't, we could have gone for a Top QB with plenty of experience going into 2021 with that money. At least we got some top draft picks out of it, but the growing period isn't going to magically happen, and I don't expect Mills to magically become Tom Brady either. I just hope we can get down the field, not turn over the ball, and play good defense. I have high hopes for Pierce, but sure wish we had a couple of big name wide receivers.
