I don't know if Dusty is a Hall of Famer, I don't think he should be personally. He has been a good manager and he was a pretty good player as well. If he gets in, I will be happy for him but I don't think he is at the HOF level.

I will say that as an overall ambassador and part of the game, he has been big.

He played 18 years as a fairly well known player, and was in the lime light as a part of those Dodgers team in the 70's. He was an all star at times, won an NLCS MVP and was in the WS a number of times. He has been a manager fairly consistently in the big leagues since 1993.

You left out his most noteworthy contribution that transcends sports and is used worldwide.

    The high five

    HUH?
    **** you.
    LOL.
I said what I said. Chas needs to play against RHP period. Without Meyers, Chaz is the best option. They know he is good against LHP, so he is getting alot PT against RHP.

It's interesting that's where your mind goes. Either you're a qanaon dumbs*** or you're projecting. I'm leaning towards the former but the latter is also possible as they are not mutually exclusive.

So Tim Worrell making a couple of good pitches 20 years ago changes how you'd view whether Dusty is a good or bad manager - nothing to do with his decisions or anything else. Just the end result of some random pitcher. That's all we really need to know about your level of analysis.

A bit more went on in that game other than a couple of pitches by Worrell, but I get your point

The treatment Bartman received from that fan base was disgusting. Alex Gonzalez was lucky all the hate went to Bartman. BTW, even if no fan interference I'm not sure anyone catches that foul ball.

I would give him credit if he won a WS. Fact is he didn't. You're a Dusty apologist though

We’re about to win 104 games or so. It’s absolutely toxic

9 out of his 45 plate appearances were at the 2 spot. I mean, I don't even know what we are discussing here. I dgaf if it was 2 games, 1, or 9 ****ing pinch hit pa's from the 2 spot. There is no way to defend that whatsoever.

And btw, Dusty has continued to make boneheaded decisions with lineups, plugging in replacements at the spot in the batting order of the guy they are replacing (Dubon leading off, etc.), so it's not some isolated incident.

Regardless, we are a kick ass team, and I don't feel like talking about Nike Goodrum anymore, but get outta here with the "it's just 2 games" BS.

That's my point - your "analysis" of whether he's good or bad is horrible. He is the same manager whether or not Tim Worrell makes a few good pitches, and yet, you'd view him entirely differently. If he sucks, he wouldn't suddenly have been good the last 20 years just because Worrell was better. And if he's good, he's no worse because Worrell sucked in that game.

9/45 PAs were at the 2 spot. Don't really feel like going down this road again. Just popped off @Major bc Nike Goodrum pissed me off so much. Carrying on.

Why is there no way to defend it? His career OPS was higher than Pena's is right now and people keep begging for Pena to hit in the 2 spot today. Should Dusty have known *before* he sucked that he was suddenly going to be horrible? He played him there for 2 games and then ... didn't.

Yep... it's one thing to not like Baker and question moves (fans of every team do it) but the vitriol is ridiculous. Baker did not cost the Astros the 2021 WS (at least no one has yet mentioned any decisions that impacted an outcome). The team has the best record in the AL and his bullpen management has been top notch (of course there have been some questionable moves, but, again, that's a trait every manager shares). The prevailing theme of losing because of him yet win in spite of him is out there.

If this thread went viral, @Clutch might have to close this forum down due to the national embarrassment that would come from posters on a fan forum of a team that overachieved in each of past two postseasons and is on their way to an overachieving win total this year based on pre-season predictions has a Fire Dusty thread with over 650 posts. If that happens, a special thank you to @King1 and @Marshall Bryant for helping bring that embarrassment to our beloved Clutchfans.
