In fact, there is still a federal law that gives a special pathway for permanent residence for Cubans that illegally migrate to the US. Meanwhile these people from Venuezela (also escaping a Communist/far left dictatorship) got thrown onto a plane to Massachusetts without telling anyone and were registered with fake addresses to ensure that they missed immigration hearings. And all of this by the same Florida government that will do anything to protect its Cuban population but will turn around and screw over Venezuelan migrants. The gloating by the right on this is just absurd. None of you complain about the treatment that Cubans get but you're all gloating about how DeSantis treats Venezuelan migrants.

It's not personal at all. Once I log off for the day, if I hear the word "Astrodome" it will only be in reference to something said or shown during tonight's game. Are you implying that lady made up all of what she said? I'm aware that Texas is absorbing the majority. That doesn't change the fact that these people were lied to about jobs and homes, about where and how they're supposed to check in with ICE while being sent thousands of miles from those meetings all in the name of creating illegality. It isn't that anyone is worried about taking them in. As much as GOP seem to be trying make that the case it simply isn't. The community has organized, found them shelter, food, and are sorting through the information. What did happen is that they were lied to. They were told that there jobs and housing waiting for them. Worse. They were given addresses of Homeless shelters all over the country which determined where there hearing dates were and make it impossible for them to attend. So while they are currently legally seeking asylum, missing their appearance would cause their status to be revoked. So these strangers in a strange land were lied to and Governor DeSantis and his people tried to trick and mislead them so they lose their legal status. Meanwhile, they then attempted to turn it into theater minus all the details of the lies they were told, fake addresses they were assigned. They also told them wrong place to report their addresses which would also cause their legal status to be revoked. So numerous attempts to take advantage of them. Nobody in Martha's Vineyard freaked out contrary to people desperate to for that to have been the case so they could laugh. When it didn't happen they tried to make it seem like it did anyway.
