If it makes you feel better the actor who plays the black elf is Puerto Rican.

Well I probably did obsess over Tolkein when I was younger which is why I’m even involved in this debate.

Yes I agree that there has been a long history of Hollywood casting white actors in roles meant for other races. One of the most egregious was casting David Carradine as Kwai Chang in Kung Fu in the 90’s there was criticism of casting Jonathan Pryce as a Asian character in Miss Saigon. I’m not sure though just casting POC in roles they were originally white makes things better.

Hamilton is a take off on the story of the Founding Father because he actually was born in the Carribean so it isnt just about “wokeness” but an artistic interpretation. There is no sense of other than trying to appeal to current sensibilities why the casting is what it is in Rings of Power.

It seems to me like the better way to handle it would’ve be how GOT had a diverse cast. The world of GOT is very diverse but fitting a Medieval outlook most communities are not. Given the distrust that the people of the north had of even the people in Kings Landing it wouldn’t make sense if Winterfell was full of mixed race people and their lords were mixed race. It does make sense though that there are people from other parts of the World who are different races so even though the main story is around a part of the World populated by white people there are characters like Grey Worm nd Missandei who are different races from other parts of the World.

I got no complaints for house of the dragon
    Billy ocean is dope
He doesn’t look completely out of place like randomness of power of the rings
There’s a diverse cast for the Witcher but it seems less weird

The Witcher, The Boys, Stranger Things... All have diverse casts and although they are not free from wokeism they atleast don't focus mainly on it. There was a story they wanted to tell first, the rest was added on to appease the purple hairs... But some shows like She Hulk, Obi, Rings of Power seem to be centered around the woke movement 1st and the story after to appease the fans....

I've not seen House of the Dragon yet so don't have an opinion on it.

I'm critical of the casting of Rings of Power but it certainly isn't centered around wokeism. The plot has nothing to do with the racial makeup of the characters. This is one reason why I say that the racial makeup adds nothing artistically. There is no sense of why they would depart from Tolkein's world view other than that it would appeal to current audiences.

But then what party am I since I support the 2nd amendment?

What party am I since I am pro life in the vast majority of cases?

What party am I since I support equal rights for all?

What party am I that I think the ACA should be fixed? I.E. Keep some parts, modify some parts, rip out some parts.

That's what I don't understand these days. Why is there a 'party line'? Do YOU support every single thing the Republican party supports? Do you support the Republican party blocking cheaper insulin for all Americans?

And...I thought you had quit wasting your time on me.

I definitely don't support everything that the Republican party does. Just pointing out all your posts are for the Democrats. It's OK that you're a Democrat. Simply said that you didn't need to lie about it

I don't think you believe it's okay to be a Democrat given adjectives you used to describe them.

How are all my posts about democratic positions? I just posted I was pro-life and that I support the 2nd amendment.

But, if it makes you happy that supporting equal rights for all and supporting the Constitution and being pro-life and thinking Trump is a horrible human being and think that the ACA could use some work and not liking the Clintons make one a Democrat, then go ahead and feel free to call me and all of those that support equal rights and the Constitution and are pro-life and think Trump is a horrible human being and think the ACA could use some work and not liking the Clintons Democrats.

I agree with you that Trump is a bad person. I also don't like Hillary Clinton. I actually like Bill. On the 2nd amendment, I guess I would be more of a Democrat than you. I just don't see the point of all these damn guns.

@King1 - serious question, what’s your deal about thinking people are lying about their political positions, namely lying about whether they are a democrat? You also said the same thing about me when I identified as a right leaning centrist. Do displaced republicans make you feel bad about yourself? Or perhaps there are only two teams for you: hard core republicans no matter what the party does, and the evil everyone else group who are actually all democrats? It is quite puzzling.

I just found out that DeSantis was born in 1978, making him younger than me. I wouldn't vote for him anyway, but I've got hang-ups about that. Of course, he must have aged terribly because he doesn't look younger than me. But still.

Aging terribly while in office sounds like a positive trait to me. Rick Perry as TX governor def got his beauty sleep.

They didn’t make fake hobbits like Amazon did
They call them Harfoots , basically midgets with leaves in their hair
The hobbits didn’t exist in this pre hobbit world but the writers felt the need to include hobbit like creatures cause they don’t have any other ideas

it shows there’s no creativity going on here
It’s like if some group of posters called themselves the 09ers because 99ers didn’t exist in their timeline
