I beg to differ... if Framby doesn't look like a workhorse, which pitchers do look like a workhorse?

Dude is as solidly built as they come... and just seems like a fun-loving dude who loves doing what he does. Hopefully the Astros can work out an extension this off-season. Locking him up is slightly more important than Tucker or even Alvarez.

Lost in the emergence of Yordan and Tucker is that Framber establishing himself as a ToR SP has done just as much to extend Houston’s window.

Roger Clemens... but that may be aided through what some may call unnatural means.

Any chance the shift ban next year will slow him down? I tend to think he’ll make the adjustment and any negative influence in effectiveness will be the same across the rest of MLB pitching.

Agreed... he was a big dude... Framber actually outweighs him.

I think Framber is great and very important to extend.

However, without him the team still has 5 average or better starting pitchers age 28 or younger.

Tucker and Alvarez should be top 10 players in all of baseball for the next 8-10 years.

And the organization does not have replacements in place ( yet?)

Yordan is signed through 2028. They already need a replacement plan for him?

Yordan is locked up for a good number of years. In regard to potential outfielders that can step up: Drew Gilbert, Pedro Leon, Yanier Diaz, and really hoping for a healthy Jake Meyers (you can't convince me that he was healthy in his last month in the bigs).

The point is that none of them are PROVEN MLB average or better regulars.

If Framber leaves, his replacements are already proven and good.

I have hope for all those guys but not willing to bet on them yet.

    No.

I was just responding to a post that said Framber should be priority for extension over Tucker and Yordan.

The fact that Yordan already has extension shouldn't apply.

    I disagreed.

Just odd the way you worded your response:

Tucker and Alvarez should be top 10 players in all of baseball for the next 8-10 years.

And the organization does not have replacements in place ( yet?)

    Sorry further confusion.

    My point:

If Framber left this team it would not hurt the team as much as if Tucker or Yordan left.

That's true. Fortunately Yordan is around for 6 more seasons. Need to get Tucker extended.

I'm more annoyed that Valdez isn't truly being considered for Cy Young. Nearly every list/ranking has him decidedly below Cease, Verlander and a few others.

The way this year has gone has got to be in the upper most threshold of best case possibilities when projecting the system 5 years out in 2017. Framber is an ace, Tucker and Alvarez broke out completely, two of the three WS winners they did sign to extensions are 16th and 17th in the MLB in fWAR while the third just struck out 11. We found a core piece at SS and 5/6 of our best in the AL rotation is homegrown with years of team control ahead. Really quite impressive. They do have holes to address but will have a lot of money available to spend in the offseason - it's a great time to be an Astros fan.

    How quickly things can change.

After the 2019season, we had a ton of success with hitters, but we had developed almost no established big league pitching aside from LMJ. It was becoming a real question mark as to whether we had a pitching development issue.

Now we have a full rotation of home developed starters...and Hunter Brown.
