    Putin is the Senate.

    Et tu Sergei?

    Friends, Russians, countrymen, lend him your ears;
    He comes to bury Putin, not praise him.

    This is pretty much the policy of every country that has nukes. And it's exactly why we don't want tiny countries having nukes... it's too easy for a bigger country to run over them and trigger a global nuclear war.

    Russia has a military presence and pact with Armenia but given the fact they are getting humiliated in Ukraine I doubt they will look to get directly involved. Turkey a major NATO player along with Israel are not shy about their support for the Azerbaijan regime.

    The world learned the lesson from WW1. The world rebuilt Germany and Europe with the Marshall Plan.

    Yep, and we would rebuild Russia - as well......and their people would finally taste freedom away from the mob run country they have now.

    Tensions leading up to the Berlin airlift sounds scary.

    Good thing The Greatest Generation repressed any form of emotion, and the history taught in schools is something I can salute and pledge to.

    Dude, we had a chance to rebuild Russia and failed miserably. We own the mistake of Putin as much as Yeltsin.

    The West clearly doesn't understand the Russian mindset other than to prop up McDonalds, then take them away when they misbehave.

    I agree with his 9/11 take, but we're still in no shape of declaring victory until a winter has passed and we see how the EU will resolve their energy, recession, and sovereign debt/currency crises.

    My doubts in this thread have mostly about resolving those before winter (too late), so now we have what looks to be a globally synched recession on the table with energy prices spiking through the roof. The US is mostly sheltered from energy shortages, but we will feel the price increases as we send over natural gas to Europe while they burn coal in desperation.

    I don't think we're worse off than what Russia will be, but the West were much better off collectively than Russia before things went down.

    No one should be declaring victory, for sure. But I think the Biden administration has navigated this situation pretty masterfully. Once Russia invaded Ukraine the die was cast that Europe (and the U.S.) would face serious negative consequences in the short/mid term. The outstanding question is how to best support the Ukraine/Europe and cripple Putin's Russia, to the benefit of the global democratic order.

    Biden is much better than the putz before him...who would either sell out and appease the stronger power in order to maintain elevated stock prices (ike he privately did with CCP and explicitly sold out the HK protesters) or publicly claim he'd start using nukes the first moment Russia invaded.

    Yep, we trusted that same halfwit with nuclear secrets.

    I agree with these tweets Biden has done a masterful job so far with Ukraine. He’s united NATO and advanced US interests in the region all without committing a single US soldier to the battlefield. He’s not getting the credit he deserves but unfortunately foreign policy rarely wins Presidents political benefits at home.
