If you want to watch more baseball, there's a really good game going on between the Twins and the Royals. The 8th inning just ended.
For those of you who watched the Astros there was an unusual scoring play when Kody Clemens struck out on a check swing. While Maldy was appealing the swing Brown picked up the ball and threw it to Yuli for the 3rd out. It was scored K2-1-3. That was the 45th time it has happened since 1952.
More likely they want to hit the stadium parking to cut off a few catalytic converters to buy meth on the way back to the dorm.
Most wins in the AL 1. Verlander 16 2. Valdez 15 3. Cease 14 3. Mahoah 14 5. Urquidy 13 5. Taillon 13 7. Garcia 12
I really have no use for BA or AB for that matter. The bottom line is Runners advanced per PA. There are many ways to do this which don't show up in BA or even OBP. Sac flies, Sac bunts, even a fielders choice when the lead runner(s) advance. The point is to leave the PA with runners either scoring or closer to scoring than at the start of the PA. This doesn't account for everything because of plays like scoring on a DP or advancing a runner to 3B on a DP or getting in a run down while a runner scores where you leave with a run, but the bases are depleted. OBP is just the better common stat that comes closer. Last 7 games: ~~~~~~Player OBP (BA) Alvarez 536 (350) Bregman 519 (316) A Diaz 500 (500) Hensley 500 (0) Mancini 450 (214) Altuve 429 (333) Gurriel 409 (409) McCormick 308 (250) Dubon 273 (273) Pena 259 (259) Tucker 259 (200)
It was really encouraging that it seemed like Hunter Brown wasn't firmly controlling his stuff last night, but still was good enough to win. To me, that's either a sign his stuff is just that good that it still gets people out even when he doesn't put it where he wants it, or he already displays some mental fortitude to make the pitches when he needs to even when he isn't 100%. Both are good things. Also, how funny would it be if, after 140+ games of us fans b****ing about how Yuli has lost it and should be on the bench, he suddenly regains his form in time for the playoffs and gives us a significant boost on our way to another world series win? That would be nuts, especially considering it seems to be what Dusty expects since he kept running him out there even during the worst of this mostly season-long slump. But it would also be incredibly fun to see.
Or maybe they knew staying at the stadium puts the catalytic converters on their vehicles at risk. They KNOW Detroit.
It would be nice. But also Wishful Thinking. He has these mini hot streaks in the sea(son) of struggles. But an exit Velo over 90 IS encouraging.I hope it's a quicker swing and not a longer swing (guessing right).
In the last 5 games Yordan has 5 extra base hits, in the 29 games before he had 5 extra base hits. No development would be bigger than him returning to proper beast form. Good to see Yuli doing something finally. I suspect this is just a random blip, but I would love nothing more than to hear the I told you so's.
I have been one of the most outspoke critics of Yuli and Dusty, but I would love to see the return of Yuli to his old clutch self.
There always seems to be a team of destiny which may or may not be the best team that year. I want that. If Yuli discovering the fountain of youth and his batting stroke after 5 months and Dusty FINALLY winning a WS is part of that, then so be it.
