I had no say in the cancelation of the Batgirl movie
the WB executives realized it sucked and will make negative revenue

they don't give you money at movie because you race swapped a character , the viewers care about quality

Netflix's best show didn't have white people or black people, it was all Koreans and one Indian

People in the US have been culturally conditioned to think a mermaid is a white character. That's fine, most of us have.

Mermaid origin was very likely non-white.

Whatever the case, for a purely fictional character, it's sad to be stuck or attached to how culture conditioned you.

    Mermaid - Wikipedia

The Incredible Origins of the Mermaid Myth | Ocean Info

Mermaids appear in the folklore of many countries most prominent in Asia, Africa, and Europe. But where did the information of these creatures first appear? The first account of mermaids was found as back as 1000 BC in Assyria (known as Syria today). In the mythical telling of Assyria, the beautiful goddess of fertility Atargatis cast herself into a lake and therefore transformed into a mermaid.

That’s what they all say! Take a picture of your minority status with todays newspaper!! But you are a boomer, no?

I just assumed you weren’t able to achieve an erection without a Caucasian version of the Little Mermaid.

Are you also not able to achieve an erection without your preferred Disney princess being the right ethnicity?

I’m one of the people who have criticized The Rings of Power for their casting decisions and yes I am a nerd. My own view is that it’s lazy, not true to Tolkein and doesn’t add anything artistically to change the casting. It does just appear tone to make it more palatable for current audiences.

I’ve made the same criticisms about other adaptions and criticized the show Warrior for casting a half British half Japanese character as the main protagonist who is supposed to be a Cantonese speaking Chinese.

This is the first I’m hearing of A Little Mermaid remake. The Disney story was based on Hans Christian Andersen who likely wrote the little Mermaid with white features in mind. The statue in Copenhagen harbor appears to have white features. Disney though significantly changed the story, in the original Ariel doesn’t live happily ever after. So the Disney “original” is already a significant departure from what was originally intended.

I don't really care about skin colours, so either way is fine with me. As long as the kids like it.

This is Ariel, this is the picture that comes to mind when people usually think mermaids..... She has been a classic Disney princess for a very long time. In one of Disney's most popular movies of all time.

They are remaking this movie and totally changing the lead most important character. I'm pretty certain they don't make Prince Eric black so they can add another checkmark to their woke movement. The interracial couple category.

So back in the day creativity was creating new characters and stories

woke people think taking old stories and swapping character’s feature is creative

    It’s exactly the opposite
    It’s no creativity

They assume everything without knowing $hit.... Someone does not like woke trash "they are racist"..... Yeah sure w/e.... Salvadorians get no representation on Rings Of Power.... I need to see some elves eating pupusas in order to feel represented...

I mean at this point it's a safe assumption. I don't know someone this obsessed with black elves or mermaids at this point who wouldn't be.

Latinos are treated the worst by the woke whiteys
I mean they made a word called LatinX because they are too stupid to understand how Spanish the language works
Then Jill Biden calls them tacos

Okay maybe you are making fun of the "anti-woke" cult?

Is that what you have done here for the past half decade? Make fun of how absurd their rhetoric is?

Back then they actually made good characters of all races
    [IMG]

Or casted good actors of all races to play a unique and original role

Women were well represented as well with great writing and no corny woke jokes like Ghostbursters 2016....

Even LatinX/Chicanos got some movies that stayed true to the original real life stories...

    Real Ritchie Valens
    [IMG]

Oh look, they tried to make the characters look like the real ones... Wow...
