I understand that's what you claim. I'm just stating you sound like a left wing parody caricature of a right winger.

He doesn't get it. We are penalized for being successful so he can hit the liquor store and cry on the internet while our tax dollars are spent to supporting a bum.

I vote based on issues that affect me, not by candidate
so far this inflation has sucked so i'm voting against stupid candidates

just like how San Francisco citizens voted out the ultra woke lunatics who insulted their smart kids by letting dumb kids into elite schools because of 'equality' instead of test scores and good grades and no criminal records

people vote based on what's important to them

I don't care. I say what I believe. I'm not left depending on the situation. Human rights sure. Healthcare. Absolutely. But financially I am on the right and what benefits my children.

Dems are trash and they will lose everything. Harris is worthless and Biden ***** himself and can't remember his name. Let's pray we get a good candidate it 2024

    America is a capitalist society
people who weren't born wealthy follow the blue prints of working hard, following the law and academic excellence.
socialists and fake justice warriors just want hand outs .

There is rise of wealth in america and it's because of people who are willing to work hard and be successful
they don't have a 'victim' mentality

@pgabriel is the best person to talk about mentality and it's relationship to success

here's a story about why Nigerians are successful in America

What happens in California does affect the rest of the country, the obvious one is the migration of companies and people to other states

what this means if there's less population in California they are going to get the burden of more taxes, and that will cause more people to move

on top of that, letting petty crime go is only beneficially to criminals

the mistake they are making there is that they think voters are sympathetic to crime

I’m already here. I’ve lived in Houston almost all my life. I’m just honest about CA. The only people looking to move from TX to CA are the ones who can afford it. Or they are young, smart and have job offers from elite companies or firms paying a lot of money.

edit: I’ve traveled a good bit for work and fun, including CA - SF, Muir Woods, Sausalito, Marin county, Monterrey, the pacific coast highway classic drive, Napa and Sonoma valley, SD, La Jolla, Coronado Beach (I don’t care for LA). It is legitimately beautiful. You should go see it. It doesn’t have to be that expensive. Drive the pacific coast highway, camp if you like. Stay in low cost motels/hotels. It is just stunning natural beauty that everyone should see once in their lives.

funny, I don’t think you and I are disagreeing on the basic fact that california is a lot nicer than Texas, and only rich people can afford to live there.

I just don’t have a problem with those facts. It is what it is. CA is awesome, too many people collapsing the system, so too expensive for average joes to live there. Why be mad about facts?

interesting world view and broad generalization. I don’t really fit the bill, as I am a right leaning centrist whose prior political party has gone crazy. But I do happen to know quite a few liberals in Houston who own, rather than rent. And they pay far more into the system than they take out. As do I.

People can live anywhere they want
But (not you) fake people here who don’t know either state at all to make their fake outrage takes

especially the people denying that there’s a large exodus of middle class people out of California

that’s the reason why Texas, Nevada, Florida, Tennessee, Colorado real estate has gone loco

If you take away the nature, nobody wants the homeless, crime and high taxes

also another factor is climate and natural disasters
The drought is real and earth quakes are bad and the big one will hit

The only people I know left in Cali are people who bought property when it was cheaper or their line of work doesn’t allow them go anywhere else like working for Hollywood

the nature is unmatched. What comes with it is a ton of free recreation, relaxation, etc. the weather is also fantastic relative to Texas and other parts of the country.

I personally also enjoy the healthier food culture. I’m not a vegetarian, vegan or green smoothie drinker or anything like that. But California cuisine tends to emphasize health and freshness, whereas Texas food culture is BBQ (wonderful but terrible for you) and southern (which is fat on fat on more fat). I’m grateful that Houston has literally everything from around the world.

The company I work for has its HQ in california. My colleagues there have the option to relocate to Houston, company will take care of relo, which includes not only moving expenses, but basically guaranteeing you get market value for your CA house and helping you find housing in Houston. Overwhelmingly, employees with the company do not want to come to Houston. I certainly cannot speak for them all, but the ones I know don’t want to give up the CA weather, culture, lifestyle, natural beauty etc, even though the cost of living is so high. It’s just a calculation that each person/family has to make. They are lawyers, so they make enough to live in CA (but would do better financially here). There is no denying that middle class is getting priced out of CA. That’s just demographics and cost of living facts.

Seems to me conservatives are obsessed with it being some kind of a referendum on democrat policies or governance. Its about too many people in CA and cost of living, period. The politics are fairly irrelevant.

It's not so easy to move for most people, so by default, things are largely inelastic. But anecdotally, when we were looking for a house in Florida, realtors told me that they were seeing incredible demand from Californians to get the hell out of California and move to Florida. Covid restrictions and high taxes were the most cited reasons. That's politics.

Not disputing that there are many good things about California (weather, nature), but the politics aren't one of them. High taxes, high crime rates, lockdowns, school closures, empowering crazy teacher unions...all not good.
