It still has non white people in it, so I'm not sure your sensitive feeling can handle it.

If a show doesn't have all white people, he doesn't watch it, just complains about it.

So, to be clear, is your problem with this movie you've never seen the fact that a black actress is playing a white character?

Is being white essential to the story?

LOL — weren’t you arguing that race shouldn’t matter in a story, and yet here you are complaining about the race of the Little ****ing Mermaid?

    The Little Mermaid isn’t history.

    Get a grip, man.

As I have stated numerous times before, I don't like race swapping in any adaptation of any original film/series because they aren't doing it to give black actors roles. They are doing it to meet a quota. They are doing it so they can appease the useless woke movement. If this actress was the best fit for the role I'd be okay with it. But watch them call people racist for not liking the movie, why? Because the whole intent of race swapping the character is to create controversy and to move forward "the movement"... They aren't doing the actress any favors, you all really think this movie will become a classic? She will be the new face of the little mermaid? people will hate it just like every other woke trash, they are using her for the politics.

If someone has a problem with a black original character due to skin color, that's just simply not liking black people. That is racism. It would never happen the other way around. It would be condemned immediately by social media.

If they made this movie into a live adaptation what color should Tiana be?

I can tell you most of the people in that industry don't give a **** about quotas or wokeness, but rather it's the studios wanting to increase the ratings to get a broader audience.

But everything has to be about wokeness and stealing jobs from white people. If looking at a black person as a dwarf upsets you so much, don't watch it.

My general sense is that the right is far more outraged about “wokism” than the left even thinks about it…

I'm not feeling Rings of Power. I feel like the dialogue is wooden (maybe a product of Tolkien lore) but LOTR trilogy had more witty "fun" banter.

Basically I'm not feeling any attachment to any character. There isn't a favorite character of mine. Characters also seem very one dimensional and soulless. The only group of people in the series so far that seem to mimic human dialogue and behavior are the harfoots. Maybe the series needs more time for character development for the other characters but the first impressions aren't great.

Overall it seems like a okay to mediocre fantasy series but with that budget, that is not good.

See there is pretty of room to not dislike ROP outside of being butthurt over a black elf.

So for those people who don't spend hours on the internet being offended about a black elf but still aren't fans of ROP, those people AREN'T racist.

But for those who do spend hours upon hours being outraged about a black elf but never uttered sentence in regards to things like a White Moses, or white Persian prince etc, ya it's a safe assumption that those people are racist. It's the dedication to something so trivial beyond skin pigmentation while ignoring the century long issue of white people playing non white people.

    Is that fair enough?

First, if your criteria for making a movie is for it to become a "classic", then 99% of movies wouldn't be made. Who cares if it doesn't become a classic?

Second, most actors in roles aren't the best fit. And you have pre determined that Halle Bailey isn't the best fit without ever seeing the movie.

Third, I don't care at all what color Tiana would be.

Fourth, however did Hamilton become so successful?

I just don't get why people care that much. This movie doesn't affect your life in any way, shape or form.

People care a lot because their favorite YouTube outrage farming grifter is telling them to care. There are hundreds of these type of outrage farming channels where thousands of people basically just mimic their opinions with no independent thought of their own.

Outrage about skin color and wokeness is a money maker. Honestly, if you have some expertise in video recording, podcasting, audio recording etc and are extraverted and are looking for some good side hustle income, start a YouTube channel about how everything is ruined by wokeness. You might eventually quite your regular job.

@tinman posts their content all the time here so you can see those as a reference guide on how to build your own YouTube channel.

What history? It's a f***ing cartoon movie about a fictional character who is a fictional being. Where are the rules that state mermaids must be white?

    How pathetically sensitive are you?

Let me add to my other post that maybe "racism" isn't the correct term but rather "white privilege". Maybe a lot of the people b****ing about black elves aren't racist but just privileged. They probably were sheltered from the hundred years of white actors getting POC roles and never was on their radar, however the few times that it happens to them, they see it as an afront to mankind.

So maybe it isn't an example of racism per say but a clear example of white privilege.

Someone who purports to not care about race shouldn’t care about “race swapping” unless it makes no narrative sense.

In this case, you’re complaining about the race of a mermaid. It is as inconsequential to the story as her eye color. You are using the sometimes justified criticism of woke-excess to disguise your dislike for black people taking roles you believe should be reserved for white people. Your made up rule that adaptations must preserve the race of all characters, even when the story doesn’t require it, is totally arbitrary.
