    California is very expensive.

It is expensive in part because so many people want to live there.

The majority of people leaving California are leaving because they cannot afford to live there.

Or their jobs moved or let them remote work
Once Cali people taste value they don’t want to go back to living with homeless people in front of their Venice beach villa

We typically agree but I have two frat brothers who live in Orange County who would move because of California's political climate. They can't because they are married and have kids. People despise Newsom

I don’t doubt that there are people in California, especially Orange County that are sick of Newsome or the political climate. Even being a solid blue state, roughly 4 out of 10 people there don’t support the Democrats.

I personally don’t think many people move to or from California because of the politics. They move there because of the weather, the beach, and opportunities. It has had Republican governors before and people still wanted to live there.

Southern California caters to the wealthy. It’s beautiful but you better have lots of money because it’s expensive.

I went there a lot in my 20’s and could see the appeal for young people. The big homes and restaurants and stores are excellent but if by your late 30’s you haven’t moved into the top couple rungs, you better move out or accept you will never own a house or be comfortable financially and deal with an area of the country where you are a second class citizen unless you are California upper middle class.

I concluded by the time I was in my early 30’s that I would move to California if I were worth hundreds of millions of dollars… you can live in the bubble like LeBron and others do… you get waited on and pampered, but it ain’t so great for everyone else.

Of course value is part of it. 75% of people that left California said it was largely because of the cost of housing. Southern California is very very much in demand but you better be willing to pay the going cost because there is a line of people that would.

If I had a job in SoCal making $150,000 a year and could work mobile from Arizona or Texas I would do it. The reality is $150,000 in Arizona or Texas is like $250,000 in SoCal.

I think in general you're correct. It's pricing but in this instance these two could live anywhere. One actually had me looking for houses in the Woodlands because that's where I live. In the end it's tough to uproot your family and I wouldn't do it over politics personally. They just hate Newsome and I can't blame them honestly. Just as I can't hate anyone who dislikes Trudeau or Abbott or Cruz. I get it.

It's expensive but we were actually exploring buying an avaliable gas station out there. Not sure if it's quite worth dropping what it would cost

It kind of matters how much you want to spend also in keeping your kids in private school. I was dirt poor growing up so that wasn't an option for me but my kids are in private school and that costs a lot. I think it's preferable to have your kids go through a normal school system but unfortunately it's political now which sucks. I want them to learn on there own and my son (while probably not good enough to go pro) already has interest from UT, A@M, Alabama, Michigan and a few others to make his own decisions.

As always, I respect our conversations

If people left a state every time they didn't like the governor (which changes every few years), that would end up being a lot of moving. So yeah, I think it's b.s. that the governor has anything to do with leaving a state. People don't decide their lives based on who is governor. But it does make for a good excuse if you don't currently like where you live.

Aaron Rodgers crushes leadership in native California: ‘State’s going to sh`t’

“State’s going to s–t but I’m hanging on,” Rodgers said of California.

He spoke about the lockdowns that forced business shutdowns in 2020 and 2021.

“I grew up in a small town, very little cases up in Chico, California but all the small businesses? F–king gone,” he said.

He bashed AB 2098, a bill that has passed but has yet to be signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom that would punish doctors for spreading misinformation on COVID-19.

Rodgers wondered: “based on whose standard of misinformation?”

The quarterback, who has opposed vaccine mandates and explained his rationale for not being vaccinated against COVID-19, also argued for bodily autonomy from government.

“I think there’s a lot of people that believe that you should have your own decision-making on your own medical decisions,” Rodgers said. “My thing is I have an issue with the hypocrisy in society in general and I know you do as well, but abortion has been a hot topic, right. And especially after Roe v. Wade got overturned and sent back to the states, or whatever. I don’t believe the government should have any control over what we do with our bodies.

“As much as I might lean more pro life, I don’t want the government to tell me I can’t smoke a cigar, I can’t have a drink of alcohol, I can’t choose my own medical decisions. And if I’m a woman, don’t f–king tell me what to do. Like whether or not I agree with what you decide to do, who cares? And the government should not have a decision that infringes upon my own personal freedoms.”

Leftist policies (Covidian lockdowns etc., soft on crime and drugs, and so on) destroy cities and communities.
