Yanks lose 4-2. Tampa may pass them.

Bunch of close games on this home stand. But a win is a win. Plus you put another game between you and the Mariners and Yankees.

Great night of baseball. Yankees not only lose but they lose to the rays again. 3.5 game lead. :D

Great game by McCullers going 7 innings and only 1 walk. Glad they were able to get him the W.

Yankees going to fool around and fall into a wildcard spot. So much hype and look at them now.

Scratch and claw win for the good guys.

15 games in a row where the opponent scores 3 runs or less. Our pitching is amazing.

I’m waiting for the inevitable… some of the more established guys are going to want Maldy as their battery mate beyond just Verlander.

Yankees 34-40 in their last 74 games.

But all we hear about is Judge. Ignore the fact that they are a mediocre team.

Yeah. Especially when you have a pitching staff that is the most consistently good one in literally decades… and the pitchers and coaches both always give a lot of credit to Maldonado.

The trade was a good one regardless. If Maldonado gets hurt or falls off an offensive cliff again, we have an above average starting catcher ready to step in.

In the post season I am sure they will try to mix in Vazquez as much as possible but guys like Verlander, McCullers and Valdez have the clout to decide who is the catcher for their starts. I haven’t heard of Valdez being so vocal, but Verlander and McCullers will make their preference known.

On a side note, I did have someone around the Astros tell me that the Astros have a preference for a Hispanic catcher. It caught me off guard, but it makes sense. The Astros have a lot of Hispanic kids in their system that are pitchers and pitching far from home. Having someone they can communicate with easier has to be a plus.

Dusty Baker doesn’t play Dubon because he is a family friend. They both have roots in Sacramento and there is a history there… but that isn’t why he plays center or gets at bats.

They probably end up losing the wild card round too.

Did not know this. Although I think you mean earned runs, because Framber had the 4 run game where only 2 were earned and he got credit for the QS.

I missed some of the game, how did Mancini perform at 1B? Did he miss some scoops?

Oh they are most certainly one and done.

Cole isn't the feared pitcher he once was with the Astros. So it's not a given they can even win a game when he starts.
