I would rather them pursuit the Ana angle. If any ethnicity deserves to avenge her rebel compadres. I like to think Ana and Dutch had many anti C.I.A babies.

As they represent woman, the largest portion of movie goers, believe it or not, the real marvel question is will it have long term financial impact. And I don't think it will. Not on woman. Not on little girls. Female Thor not likely to move anyone to think differently. The two best bets so far have been wonder woman and super girl. Almost no long term impact or traction for either. Woman gravitated to the hunger games, which was little more fantastical and little more like a reality show. But she's not a long-term sell right now. It seems to me like Outlander, Hunger, and that Twilight movie hit the nail on the head. Fantasy Journey and Boy drama. So for Marvel, they need to build a long term heroine on that and I think that means they need to do some world building that does not currently exist.

The miscalculation is that not every audience wants the same thing. If you sell a black supremacy power fantasy movie to audiences, they eat it up....but women typically don't go crazy for "girl power" movies the same way.

Those kind of movies generate plenty of good press and the activists absolutely lose their minds, but general audiences more often than not end up yawning.....especially if the pandering to the niche audience is too overt and they forget to actually tell a legitimate story.

Another HUGE difference is that Black Panther is legitimately an amazing character, so they had something good to sell. Characters like Captain Marvel (any of them really) and Female Thor are garbage characters that are solely intended as a gimmick to reach a tiny niche audience. If you aren't a radical feminist, those characters simply aren't for you and in the comics they were just used as a vehicle for radical feminist propaganda. They are entirely ideology over interesting narrative story. It's hard to take something like that and turn it into a thing that general audiences will enjoy.

Black Panther is a character that pretty much anyone can enjoy, so while you get the niche audience of people wanting a black supremacy power fantasy, you don't lose general audiences while doing it.

I'm not opposed to movies with female leads (e.g. Aliens, Rogue One). What bothers me is when it feels like the movie makers are forcing their agenda on me. Same is true for other woke SJE topics. Quit forcing your agenda on me and focus on making a good movie.

    The story was good
I think Capt Marvel was miscast
Ms Marvel was more cutesy CW than anything
Female Thor was meh as was Love

I think the biggest issue is that IF someone feels these are Agenda driven
Then the stories become very predictable which is boring
If it is Agenda driven . . but looks fresh and exciting and unpredictable. . .no one gives a ****

I think Captain Marvel was well cast....it's just the character is a dud. The most interesting thing Captain Marvel ever did was get her ass kicked by Rogue which is how Rogue gained the ability to fly.

I never watched Ms. Marvel, I've read some of the source material and it's trash. I've heard from some that the Disney+ series was at least a bit fun though aimed for absolute children. Don't know if that's true or not.

I didn't watch the new Female Thor movie either, but some say it's funny at least.....though it's also insulting if you care about the characters at all. Don't know if that's true. The source material for Female Thor is pretty meh.

I do my best to look beyond "the agenda" when it comes to watching movies. If there's something to it beyond "the agenda", then I can usually enjoy it despite whatever is being pushed. I think general audiences are about the same.....and they may not even notice "the agenda" if there's more to a movie than that.

The comments in my OP were really more about the source material than the current MCU projects because I've pretty much checked out on all of them at this point. I'm not sure when or if I'll ever sit through another MCU film or show. Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel are characters that have been rebooted in the comics dozens of times because they really want them to work and they just don't. I see no reason why they'd work in any other medium either.

so like… this is a 5.5/10 at best. felt like it was all over the place. watching thor 1-4 was like watching the new star wars trilogy. nome of the movies connected with one another. ragnarok and loving thunder even felt a bit different with the same director.

I enjoyed Russell Crowe as Zeus. I laughed through that whole scene. Yes I was the only one.

Actually liked this one better than the first two. Ragnarok being the best of course. I found myself laughing a lot and the villain was pretty good.

Finally saw this on D+ and agree it was all over the place. Story started off dark AF then ended up with little kids battling shadow monsters from the first arc? Da **** is this??

Kind of trashed the suspension of disbelief there. Then they cast a child actor, who will likely get a growth spurt the next time she shows up.

I didn't like how try hard Jane was or how fast Zeus got clapped, but oh well, they gone now?

With the way Hulk stuck around for Ragnarok, I half expected the Guardians to hang around or advance their stuff, but they ended up being a prop.

This might've been a victim of too many moving parts.

Watched the first half or so on my flight today. Enjoyed what I saw. Not as good as Ragnorak but better than pretty much anything else MCU for me. Tone, writing, dialogue, characters, better with these than the others imo

It felt like a testbed for different ideas. They turned Waititi loose knowing it might be very different than the other Marvel entries.

For me, it felt odd at first, but when I came to grips that it was going to be different, it became more fun and enjoyable.

    Will watch again.

i think bale is more suited to play emotional villains than good guys. his face is easier to hate.

that said, this movie would’ve been better with moar chris pratt. he should’ve wielded mirmir instead. @Salvy

Chris Pratt and Batman gave away their weight gains to Jane's sidekick.

You apparently didn't watch the mid- and post-credits scenes. Zeus is alive.

100% Chris Pratt makes any movie or show better, he could have even saved Rings of Power by playing the blek elf...
