The 2 perplexing moves have never occurred in the past, but I'm pretty sure based on your past posts, you believe Baker is being racist.
When Chas isn't banged up, it is easily Chas. Gurriel is a much better hitter than Dubon, and defensive differences between probably aren't enough to cover the hitting differences.
Yeah, I'd much rather see Yuli than Dubon hitting, but playing Yuli has nothing to do with Dubon's playing time. It's not that Yuli is playing, it's that he's playing every single game.
I was thinking on a per game basis. Not playing Chas against LHP is probably less of a big deal overall as it has only happened a few days when healthy. On a per game basis, I think the difference between Chas and Dubon is huge due to hitting whether a LHP or RHP (i.e., each decision to play Yuli matters less, but Dusty has made that decision more times).
I'm usually not a "play the new guy!!!" type of guy, but Hensley deserves more of a look than he's been given. He's got lots of places he can figure into a lineup, unlike Y.Diaz
I agree with this, Hensley is athletic enough to play middle, and is 6'6. He's played 1st in the minors, and yet he can't even get so much as a look. Dusty has pretty much decided Yuli is gonna play every game no matter what, and nobody else is gonna even get a chance to take some of his AB's. Mancini will sit on the bench before Yuli will. I can't say with any confidence Y Diaz or Hensley are better options than Yuli, but to not even give them a chance is aggravating. We could have a really solid hitter on the team that needs one. The offensive status quo is dangerous right now.
Chas is healthy. He's been on the bench (but came in late as PH or OF) for 3 of the past 5 games started by LHP.
I don't know the status of his pinky, but it would not surprise me that a pinky injury on a non-throwing hand would impair hitting longer than running and throwing. Edit: I think it was Chas that said the only thing holding him back was gripping the bat, but that was 4-5 days ago.
Not a mean racist, but yes. he ascribes speed to POC and CRT or it's predecessor are always part of his equation. It doesn't mean anything more than he's a man of his time. But that's not the whole story. Just a part of it. Very few things boil down to a single thing. But it's part of the story. He also has a longer leash with players who are older and on the decline. Maybe that's a good thing and maybe not. I'm in the camp that a deserved longer leash still has it's limits.
It's that, and I'd have no qualms about him getting PT here and there at 4 IF spots and LF, but it's mostly how he looks at the plate. I like his approach.
I will just say again that I think the checked swings are more likely to cause re-injury than swings and misses. But that's strictly from the point of view of an amateur and a bad one at that. I just remember checked swings hurting my wrists and palms more than full swings.
He liked him more than Meyers. But when he got Siri, they both had to fight for playing time. I don't think moving Siri had nothing to do with how often ()usty started him over Chas and Jake.
Dubon should be an emergency starter only and late inning defensive replacement when we have a lead or it's a blow out. ()usty uses him like he's A Diaz and contributes both offensively and defensively (when healthy).
