Dubon in CF, Maldy behind the plate...JV can do what he wants but I'm starting to understand why I haven't heard him b!!ch about lack of run support.
I am seriously worried about Trey Mancini picking up his option for next year. He's not good enough at that salary.
It's funny, he could hit before he got here, and he hit when he got here, but now HE has forgotten how to hit.
Outside of a few big hits (HRs mostly), he's struggled with the Stros. He's also gone from playing everyday to irregular starts (I'm assuming, someone else can look this up)
The Braves were 3rd in the NL in offense and 3rd in fewest runners LOB. The Nationals had the 2nd best offense in the NL. (both times the Dodgers were 1st and lost lmao) This Astros team is 4th in the AL in runs scored.
I was saying it tongue and cheek, but Dubon does fit the type of player has played over last year in place of superior players. Riles and Milner used to be two of his favorites. I already knew Dusty didn’t like McCormick’s glove in center, but if he thinks he is doing his pitchers a favor, he isn’t. The staff has to be sick of crappy line ups. Also at some point the Astros will stop yanking Javier around and just let him start. It has bothered him before, but they keep moving his role around.
Gurriel has done nothing pretty much this entire year. Even with Mancini’s struggles he has like 50 points on Gurriel’s OPS. They need to put Mancini at 1st and let him play every day because at least their is upside. He has actually been good at points unlike Gurriel. Stick McCormick in center too and split the catchers time. When Diaz comes off the DL, he should play over Gurriel as well.
Maybe the Astros want the easier Divisional round opponent that comes with the 2nd seed...baseball is so dumb sometimes
