    LOL.

Do you think every teacher has an assistant? You don't just give kids assignments any more it's much more hands on and chunk assignments that are changing throughout the period and require checks for understanding.

Also do you know how long it takes to grade a ten question assignment for 20+ kids?

It's longer than 50 minutes, and that's even if it's just multiple choice or true and false.

It's clear you don't have clue of what goes on in a classroom, why don't you actually ask what happens and how long it takes since you have all of these family members in the profession.

So what time do you actually teach in this scenario?

Like I said, you have nothing.

    Thanks for illustrating my point.

I see it differently. He has taken a stranglehold on Florida, he has drastically changed policy and has interjected himself into policy decisions that he really shouldn't be involved in, and he is still very popular. To me he has been very successful controlling the narrative. What he has championed concerning Florida schools is arguably unconscionable but he has pulled it off with little relative damage.

It all comes down to the electoral college.

I think that he can compete and win in places like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and possibly even in Michigan.

He has done an excellent job of convincing people to overlook his LGBTQ+ policies or the amount of power he has accumulated in Florida.

He does that by balancing opposition through doing things like fighting for and getting a huge increase in money spent in education in Florida, large pay raises for teachers in Florida, increased school choice options, pushed for increased funding for historically black colleges in the state and increased funding for orphans.

This is just one topic, but you get the idea. A lot of people in Florida may not agree with his position on LGBTQ+ but are willing to vote for him because of his push for and getting increased funding for schools, teachers and other groups.

He did the same thing with the judicial system. He appointed some very socially conservative judges that are in some cases, bigots. However, he was smart how he did it. He made sure he picked a large number of women and minorities to the court.

He also is exceptionally good at advertising what he does in the state. He walks the line exceptionally well.

DeSantis has governed under economic expansion in Florida. The state has a lot of people moving into it.

He also did things like force Florida to get rid of the ban on medicinal mar1juana.

There are certainly people that are going to be upset over his positions on LGBTQ+ and abortion. I am one of those people, and that is why I will not vote for him. Having said that, LGBTQ+ is a losing issue for democrats IMO largely because of the transgender issue. Most Americans just want a strong economy, little danger and they will sacrifice a lot for that.

As for his charisma, he isn't charismatic in the classic sense. However he comes across as forceful and in control and measured and that appeals to a lot of people. He walks the line of being able to do the terrible things he supports by doing enough positive things that he gets the benefit of the doubt.

He attracts moderates because he stresses education spending, he attacks and puts pressure on government (like the water department) and plays the part of fixing the system for the little man. He will have some degree of minority support because he has done some things that are beneficial to minorities and women.

He galvanizes Republicans because he has connection to Trump but he is competent and thus far largely scandal free. He is socially conservative while being able to point to being compassionate to some, and he also fiscally fits the modern Republican well. He spends money, but criticizes the Democrats when they do it.

He is, but I also think that there is a portion of voters that want to put everything from the Trump years behind them, because it is so nasty and that would include Biden. Further, Biden is very old.

This is the wildcard of course. The Democrats really need to hope that Trump runs third party if he doesn't get the nomination. However if there is a major candidate that could keep a lot of the "Trump only" voters, it would be DeSantis.

The Democrats really need to decide if they want Trump indicted or not, because their best bet in 2024 is if Trump is the nominee.

DeSantis is free of baggage by contrast and has set himself up well.

This is true for people over 35 years old.

It is far less the case with those younger, and it is on a scale. Those under 25 years have far less conditioning. Largely because of how public schools and the media, Hollywood and music portray LGBTQ+. This is precisely why conservatives want to change public school education and whom the teachers are.

This is a lot like the gay marriage fight. It is not going to be as clean or as fast as a lot of people like, but at the end of the day gay rights will prevail after enough older people die off.

Right now there is a lot of people that are sick of transexualism being as large an issue as it is, that are tired of pronoun battles and social media on the topic. A lot of people are indifferent to the rights of sexual orientation in 2022 but also do not like how the battle is playing out. It also isn't all conservatives either. For example I know that a lot of feminists are upset. As I had one liberal feminist tell me, "The transgender need to get in line behind women and people of color". Also a lot of people do not like that transgender advocates want society as a whole to change for a very small number of people.

Staunch supporters of LGBTQ+ often live in an echo chamber and do not realize that most people are not as passionate about it as they are, and that there is a degree of resentment that cuts across all demographics. It is the flip side of the hardcore conservative echo chamber that believes most Americans want prayer in school and women to not have access to abortion.

Most Americans are moderate and really want a strong economy, incremental change, to feel safe and not have to think about conflict.

This is true, but these people are not the majority of Americans. They are loud and well organized, but at most make up 20-25% of the country, and they skew to the older demographic. Most Americans really do not care and do not notice. They don't want LGBTQ+ shoved in their face in a forced or non organic way, but they also do not want SBC or other right wing organizations protesting or telling people that it is morally wrong to be gay or of another sexual persuasion.

I think the difference here is that LGBTQ people have sincere concerns about their safety due to increased charged rhetoric like "all transgender people are pedophiles ". These people are going to be more outspoken because unlike most of the right they have sincere concerns about not being accepted and also being targets from fanatics all over the country who now will say stuff like "In a biblical country we would formally execute gay people". That rhetoric exists and that makes them often very worried. So I understand why they are often obsessive with their cause.

There is a difference between being concerned about being labeled a pedophile or fearing physical safety, and insisting on the use of pronouns and pushing to have pregnant women called pregnant people.

There is no question that trans people face a lot of obstacles, the cases of trans suicide are very high, so are cases of sexual violence and poverty. No one can in good faith argue otherwise. I believe that the majority of Americans are against labeling the LGBTQ+ community pedophiles or perpetrating violence against them as a class. I would go so far as to say that a majority of Americans are against de facto discrimination against the trans gender community.

The issue is when other marginalized groups are being bullied to incorporate the LGBTQ+ agenda into their agenda (feminism/black empowerment). When issues like pronouns become a common issue, when people are being called transphobic on social media in questionable situations, and when you have trans supporters arguing in some cases that not only gender is a social construct, but so is sex. In other words a pregnant woman is to be referred to a pregnant person. It is very offensive to some people, including people that would otherwise being allies. For example, in the case of "pregnant people", it is to be inclusive of pregnant females that identify their gender as male. It is a miniscule percentage of people and females are expected to just go along with it or they are labeled as bigoted.

The turn that the LGBTQ+ issue has taken the last year is a loser for the democrats in 2022 and likely 2024. At some point it wont be, but it is now. Most people do not believe it as important an issue as the social attention it gets.

People see things like the video below, where Hawley makes a professor look like an elitist idiot.

My friend in the LGBTQ+ actually believed that the Professor made Hawley look foolish, when the reality is quite the opposite for the majority of Americans not in the eco chamber.

You are sugarcoating a lot with DeSantis, he definitely has baggage his baggage is the LGBTQ stuff and him picking fights with liberals, thats not what true moderates want.

His economic bonafides are not greater than Biden's and you never hear anybody taught what he has done economically in Florida so Idon't know how that gets him a leg up over Biden.

Its going to be hard to beat Biden because of incumbency if there is not a major economic downturn and lets not forget republicans keep tarnishing the brand by having MTG and Boebert continuing to be "leaders" of the party.

Sorry I just don't see the American voters wanting to elect a guy who main claim to fame is sticking it to the other party while Biden has done what he has done.

Especially if Roe vs Wade and birth control are still on the ballot.

I don't think DeSantis will have clear sailing either, he will be attacked from the right because everybody thinks they can be Trump lite.

The problem with Trump is if he loses to DeSantis he will not go quietly into the night. Trump will actively work against DeSantis. Trump only voters will stay home.

Exactly, I don't know why people think DeSantis, jumping off point, is Trumps base.

It isn't really sugar coating it as much as I believe that LGBTQ+ is not going to be one of the top 2-3 issues to most Americans, and they are willing to overlook his position and make excuses for it if they believe he is the best candidate on more important issues, especially if the Democrats are going to make the LGBTQ+ topic as big as they have been pushed to do so by the more outspoken wing of the party.

I don't want DeSantis to win, because I strongly disagree with him on a number of social issues. However I also know that to a lot of Americans in places like Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania; it isn't as important.

Joe Biden is President when inflation is the highest it has been in almost 50 years. He is also going to deal with the issue with Russia and economic unrest in his own party on a number of issues. Can that change in two years? Yes it can, but right now the economy favors DeSantis.

There is no question that the extremists are harming the Republican brand. We are seeing it with the abortion issue at the state levels as well, there are mostly white men in positions of power that are making decisions on whether a woman can get an abortion; and they are largely tone deaf. That will likely play a large part in the 2022 mid terms and possibly in 2024.

DeSantis has gained popularity in Florida with his ability to balance a repressive social agenda with enough other popular programs and decisions.

Yes, it is likely going to be a big issue.

I don't think I said he has clear sailing, but I do believe he is the best Republican candidate to beat Biden in the General Election.

I was a teachers assistant in high school and when there wasn't an assistant we exchanged papers among students, the teacher called out the answers and the students graded the, and papers. My ex-wife operated this way too. BTW, a guy who works for me wife is a paid teachers assistant. So yes, I do know what's going on in the classroom these days. Maybe not as much as I used too, but I still know. There's a reason parents are putting their kids in private schools or home schooling at record rates.

She's the living problem with why people dismiss the LGBTQ community. You couldn't find a worse spokesperson if you tried.

BTW, DeSantis doesn't want K-3 to be taught anything about sex and I agree with him. The LGBTQ community took what he was saying and ran with it.

Parts you can disagree with. But Biden not mandating vaccines in most cases is simply fact. Biden not mandating lock downs in most cases is fact. Most of that was from the states.

First of all, this might work in high school, where they have an assistant. I doubt many do though. It certainly wouldn't work in Special Ed or Elementary school. They transition from one subject to a other to another and don't have time to do much except that hour kids are in music or PE. Sometimes they plan lessons then, but often they are taking care of other stuff or meeting with other teachers, therapists, making calls to take care of issues, calling parents, etc..

I taught Special Ed, and it was all hands on deck 24/7, between daily student meltdowns, testing students, assessing students, potty changing, transitions, teaching etc... The paperwork was mind boggling, and so we're all the assessments and grading. Nobody can imagine what it's like without doing it. I was in a high stress career that involved hours and hours of studying outside work as an Air Traffic Controller, and believe me, teaching was similar, but different levels of stress. The biggest difference was the reward you got from teaching, and seeing children reach goals one step at a time. Air Traffic Control wasn't rewarding in that sense.

As for your dad taking all those outside jobs for money that goes to show that teaching is a highly underpaid profession for the work, especially when it's such an important line of work. Nobody should have to work two or three jobs to make a living. Nobody. That especially goes for those who went through four or more years of college to do that job.

Parents that don't like what the public schools are teaching their children, or the federal government sicking the FBI on parents at a PTA meeting. So they've chosen not to have to deal with this toxic environment or have the government Nazis breathing down their backs. Hence the rise of private schools and home schooling. Parents are taking back control of THEIR children from the government. About time, fact is a lot of parents want their kids to be taught the 3R's and they can make sure they get this type of education either in home schooling or private schools.
