Dusty got that team in turmoil, that had major injuries, and a VERY YOUNG pitching staff to game 7 the ALCS. He doesn't need a pass.

Regular season Dusty is goofy AF. Postseason Dusty has been very good.

Haven't been this excited about a homegrown pitcher making his debut since Lance came up.
With Dallas we thought the Stros just needed starters to field the roster if you recall.
Valdez came out of nowhere, no build up hype.
He made us cringe a bit before taking that step towards all star. The same with Urquidy.

Luis Garcia, Xavi and Xavi's invisaball were just thrown into the forest in that covid year with the injuries to Verlander. More panic than buzz to that season.
And Whitley every year we thought he would put it together and every year there was a set back.

I can feel the Vuvuzuela buzz for HB.

Like I said, not just any run of the mill prospect. Only elite. The chances you wind up with a player better than Urquidy is low.

So how do we know we did not play our best team possible?

What are the metrics you are going to use?

    Trey Mancini>Yuli Gurriel
    Chaz vs LHP>>>>Yuli Gurriel
    Chaz OF defense>>>>>Yordan,Mancini
Flyball pitcher= want best OF defense

Therefore Chaz in OF, Mancini at 1B, Yordan at DH. I don't need advanced metrics, common sense and 10 seconds of simple stat checking will tell you this.

Ok thanks, who knew that all it took was common sense and we would be in 1st place in the AL?

    Oh wait?

So you don't really have any metrics just "common sense" makes total sense.

I love metrics, but you tend to use those your common sense tells you to use.

I get it, you think Dusty is good at his job and is the main reason we are in first place.

Chaz McCormick has a 1.000 OPS vs left handed pitchers, and is better defensively than Yordan or Mancini, he should have started. I'm sure you think that is a debatable statement, but statistically it isn't.

I don't know were you got that from.

I think baseball managers are about 3rd on the list of things that contribute to winning and that's just the very good ones.

Chaz has been hurt and was starting a lot of the time, so I have no idea what you think this proves.

But good job at grabbing a random data point to try and make a point.

The Astros are currently trying to fine toon the roster heading into the playoffs and trying different players doing different things, Yordan likes playing the field but you are actually trying to move him to DH to get the awesome Chaz a starting spot?

Thou shalt not criticize Saint ()USTY. It is sacrilege. He is responsible for every hit and every pitch. The Astros would be 0-134 without him.
