Long story short, Scott sets up an ponzi scheme for donors, it collapses before it actually gets spent on races. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/03/us/politics/senate-republican-committee-funds.html How a Record Cash Haul Vanished for Senate Republicans The campaign arm of Senate Republicans had collected $181.5 million by the end of July — but spent 95 percent of it. A big investment in digital, and hyperaggressive tactics, have not paid off.
At this point, if DeSantis rejects MAGA and Trumpism, and reaches out to the middle - I'd vote for him to save the republic as much as I'd hate to do it.
Huh? Hell no. DeSantis has shown his hand that he's the type of poltician who would do performative arrests to drive home a narrative for the base to eat up. Hell no I don't want someone like that touching the presidency. He's shown his hand at what he's capable of doing to pander. He's dangerous and a few months of him appeasing the middle shouldn't change that opinion about him. He's a weasel. I mean who the hell is the Democrat candidate where you would even think about voting for DeSantis?
That still doesn't make sense? Compared to who? Like you would vote for DeSantis over Biden if he "rejects" Trumpism? Again, he's already shown his hand at fascist authoritarian tendencies. He's willing to spread the narrative that there was something wrong with the 2020 election for his benefit. If he rejects Trumpism it would be because it doesn't personally benefit him. So that means he is just as easily willing to revert back to it when it does benefit him. No, he's an opportunistic semi-fascist.
I'm just saying the country is in that much trouble. Anyway it's moot as I can't vote in the Republican primary anyway.
DeSantis will beat Biden, but Biden has a good chance to beat Trump. But it's more important to stop Trump than have Biden prez. That's what I am trying to articulate.
I'll disagree but it's a sincere concern so I understand. I am also deathly afraid of what a DeSantis vs Biden debate would look like. DeSantis is significantly younger, far more quick witted and just flat out more intelligent than Biden. It's going to be one of the first times in decades in America where the Republican candidate is more intelligent than the Democrat candidate. Maybe Romney and Obama were a wash.
I partially think the Democratic Party is afraid of DeSantis and wants to poke at trump to run because he has baggage and is sloppy versus a political savvy DeSantis ,…it’s actually a sound strategic tactic if I was on team Democrats I would advise that..
That was the exact same mindset in 2016. And it was an abject failure. Many Democrats wanted Trump to win the primaries.
This is not 2016 and none of the dynamics are the same and people know what a Trumps presidency looks like. In 2016 Roe vs Wade was not in danger as well so I have no idea why you are bringing up 2016.
Trump is an existential threat to the union. It's not worth the risk. You have to stop Trump and Trumpism. Until he dies, Trump will continue to fire up what he does because any Republican that does not get on board will become his target. He's that powerful. The damage has been bad, and no doubt DeSantis will continue many poor policies. But it would at least prevent Trump from every gaining the presidency and once he passes, Republicans will be free to take more moderate positions without getting destroyed by Trump. Sauce for the Republic.
He will act like it to run against Trump but he showed his true colors sucking up to Trump his entire wreckless and hateful term. He incites the far right.
