Retail stores should either transition to online only or have guards armed with shotguns. People do robberies or smash and grab burglaries because there are no consequences. If you get a face full of 00 buckshot, you aren't robbing anyone again, and your friends probably aren't either.

Now you just have to find humans readily willing to murder people over property they don't own for 13 dollars an hour.

A large portion of customers don't really respect retail employees or separate support staff like janitor or security guards; they probably won't shop there if the latter is armed and empowered to threaten or boss them around. That's not even considering the inevitable murders of multiple and some likely underaged customers based on profiling and false accusations of theft.

Take a bow, stupidest god damn idea today, not even lunch yet.

I’ve already predicted the future is exactly like robocop
The police are defunded but the rise of private security companies will take over

OCP is COP if you move the letters

Well I live in Chicago and am very familiar with crime in Chicago.

First, the only businesses leaving Chicago because of crime are in the same five neighborhoods and those neighborhoods have been dangerous for 50-60 years. 90% of the violent crime in the city are in these small areas and people avoid them like the plague. Anyone operating a business there knows that.

Second, these people robbed, etc. are upper middle class people trying to gentrify these neighborhoods. They go and buy 700-800K homes in the most dangerous part of the city that is all government aid housing. Millennials have lost their mind. A group of these yuppy Millennials will renovate homes and brownstones and renovate them in literally one of the 5 worse neighborhoods in the USA and are surprised when they are robbed or shot?

90% of Chicago is extremely safe, and the crime is all in those 5 neighborhoods.

What a sensationalist news report though.

Institutionally marginalized and segregated black people with no educational opportunities and surrounded by violence rob and attack oblivious wealthy white people that move next door.

Also this chirping from Texas and Florida about California is hilarious.

Mediocre politicians like Cruz and Abbot use it for red meat.

People are moving out of places like LA and SF because the state hasn't had sufficient housing in over 30 years and people cannot afford to stay in California.

Californians are moving to Texas, Arizona, Oregon and Nevada.

Why? Well consider that the median cost of a house in California is $900,000 and it is a little over $300,000 in Texas.

A full 75% of people in Southern California said that if they left California it would be over the cost of housing.

There is a direct correlation between housing costs increasing in California and Californians moving out of state.

That is why they are leaving. It isn't because they love governor Abbot or Cruz or politics. They are moving to Texas because they can afford to live well in Texas and not in California.

That isn't to say California doesn't have problems, it does.... it purposely doesn't address the affordable housing issue, and it can be elitist. However Texas has plenty of issues too. The air quality and the treatment of the environment is atrocious and just like there are grid issues in California, there is in Texas as well.

Also, a lot of the people I see slamming California are conservative Texans..... with so many Californians moving to Texas, it very well could turn the state blue.

I don't care if Texas is blue or red as long as it has both parties represented at the state level, because when one party dominates a state for a long time the quality of leadership is poor.... and you end up with people like Abbot, Cruz and Newsome in charge..... both Texas and California need new leadership.

This isn't the world I want to live in, and this is probably the worst idea I have read in a long time.

I don't have any desire to live in a country where there are armed guards everywhere I go.

    This isn't Mad Max.

Of course , you have to earn $500k a year just to live modest and above water there so what is the point for anyone else? It’s ridiculous…California is proof having hyper inflation and extreme COL doesn’t make their GDP mean a quality life

So all lawn equipment and all cars will be relying on the grid in a few short years in California and they can’t even handle a fraction of the demand now….o jeez

This is a typical average home …some go more or way more , some go lower in seedy areas more than likely
Monthly payments on a $900,000 mortgage
At a 4% fixed interest rate, your monthly mortgage payment on a 30-year mortgage might total $4,296.74 a month, while a 15-year might cost $6,657.19 a month.

good luck to the working stiffs
