1. We do know what was there. There are legal inventory lists and photographic evidence. 2. Everything we have seen from this case shows Trump was given preferential treatment and continued to lie and not comply with legal subpoenas. 3. Even if none of it was classified and had all been declassified, it would still be illegal for Trump to have them. They don't belong to him. 4. If he did actually declassify them, every single one of us will be able to read everything that was in the documents. Luckily journalists have already filed FOIA requests for the documents, so we'll see what happens. 5. Trump's legal team has never claimed in any of their filings that the documents were declassified. Not once. Certainly, if they were truly declassified, his legal team would have made that claim in their filings. The claims of declassification have only been in social media statements. Nobody on Trump's team have made a legal claim that any of it was declassified. 6. I absolutely said Hillary shouldn't have used a personal server, even though it was common practice. Unlike Trump, she turned everything over to the FBI. 7. Trump had been investigated and they've found plenty. People have been arrested, convicted, jailed, indicted, and deported all from investigating Trump and his team. Now we have evidence that implicates Trump.
This isn't a matter of simply getting him at all costs. It's a matter of enforcing the laws that Trump broke.
Excellent post. Just to add to if it was all in the WH movers over the last two years there have been multiple attempts to recover the documents. In June Trump’ lawyers attested to the there was no longer classified material at Mar A Lago. That wasn’t true at all and that lawyer who signed the documwntnisnlikelybto face charges also. Mere incompetence on the part of movers ignores there has been more than a year since Trump left office and he was given multiple chances to return the material.
I agree this forum can be addictive. I know I spend too much time here myself. That said there are many topics I don’t find important, uninteresting, or just don’t know enough about to post in. I really don’t find the need to post an op-Ed from someone on a subject if I truly don’t care about if. For example I’m flattered that @tinman tags me in a lot of posts but no offense I really have no interest in whatever feud DaBaby is in so I don’t post in those threads.
I’m sure none of this will change your mind but consider these questions: If Trump did have a standing order to declassify everything why wasn’t this widely known before? Why did Trump and his defenders only bring this up after the FBI searched Mar A Lago and found material marked as “classified”? If the FBI are so hopeless biased against Trump why did the same week they searched Mar A Lago they stopped a plot to assasinate members of his administration? If nothing has been found out of these investigations why have several people who were either members of his administration, worked for him or close associates with him been convicted of crimes relating to Trump?
DaBaby is part of the culture war that these fake outrage political lunatics waged They are trying to LatinX everything and make everything cringe like a homeless camp in Portland or vegan bbq They will cancel judo breh , it’s too violent!’
That's not the best-case scenario FOR THE US. Maybe you were thinking of it as the best-case scenario FOR TRUMP (it isn't either). If that actually somehow happens (completely ignoring all rules and processes for handling classified info, which is a crime), it's actually worse FOR THE US than a case where Trump stole the document and kept it at least somewhat secure.
It should be incredibly easy to see if he truly declassified anything. When I had a Top Secret DoD clearance I worked on a particular classified project. Once the project was declassified anyone involved with that project was notified it was no longer classified (perhaps 15 years after I was first involved). So... if the former President declassified all this stuff, then others will be able to back him up. But, regardless of whether or not he thinks he declassified then, he didn't. It's his typical bullshit and how seemingly intelligent people continue to believe the crap he spews amazes me.
Watching Trump speak at packed Arena, its striking the difference in watching PedoHitler's commie speech vs a representative of freedom and democracy. The diversity in the crowd is beautiful, no racism no political persecution.
