Man, the "F your Feelings" crowd sure had their feelings hurt by Biden last night. I guess it's true what they say about bullies: they can dish it out but can't take it. A few things: Biden's not a great orator. I was hoping he would lean into Lincoln's Cooper Union Speech (I think it's the greatest speech in US history), but he didn't. Still, he tried to draw a distinction between partisanship and antagonistic politics that are rooted in the Constitution and the principles of democracy and what we see from MAGA. Inevitably, the mention of Trump and the description of MAGA will be the headlines and the White House had to realize that, but the distinction was in the speech. For those complaining that the speech was unnecessary, I will remind you that Jim Crow was prevalent until Thurgood, MLK, and others started calling it out, that McCarthy ran roughshod until he was called out, that the citizens of Sandpoint, ID regret that they quietly ignored the Nazis/white supremacists in their midst until their community became a haven for those types. The list of losers who take advantage of silence and the silent hope that they would just go away is long and exhausting. To these folks, silence and accommodating language is approval. As Lincoln concluded in the Cooper Union Address (his capitalization): Biden was heckled during the speech and said something to the effect of "That's what democracy is. People can be outrageous." Trump would have encouraged violence against the heckler. That is the difference and that the heckler stupidly allowed Biden to create the contrast so vividly tells you much about the MAGA crowd. People posting Pushaw tweets realize she's the press secretary for DeSantis, right? And she's just as vile.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundation of our republic.” Biden is telling you what is true. Not true and even if so, Big Tech, as non-gov private parties, can censor whatever they want. First off, Independent favor D (47 to 44) as of Aug'22. Support for a party doesn't mean that party isn't extreme. Eg. Hitler was both extreme and popular.
A lot of Dems have been vilifying the Democratic Party and the last 2 democratic presidents for not touting their accomplishments, I agree it should not be necessary but when you got a sizable chunk of electorate that want this type of stuff you need to give it to them especially heading into election season. This is exactly for the low attention, low enthusiasm vote, everybody likes to get behind a winner and we all love a good pep rally. I don't see how any democrat would be turned off by this and definitely not turned off to vote, and there are a good amount of Republicans who feel the same way about the MAGA crowd and this gives them license to vote for Biden or just not vote for these MAGA candidates. Can you explain why this would turn off the voters you say as opposed to firing them up?
When the hell did Obama ever effectivley fight these movements through speech? He came across as very feckless most time as a president and the farther left called him out on it a lot, the main criticism of Obama was that he tried to work with Republicans too much, and you said the same thing, and now you are complaining about Biden being blunt and divisive? WTF? He has already effectively fought these movements, as shown by Democrats being in a dead heat with Republicans going into the mid terms. It's impossible to effectively fight these movements through speech. Do you really think there is anybody who has an effective way to speak to the MAGA crowd with a D before there name? I can't believe you are still taking shots at Biden, but then you were willing to call him a predator leading up to the nomination, so par for the course I guess.
Encouraging people to vote against these people and get them out of office is the specific action to rid ourselves of MAGA. MAGA exists because politicians can win with it. If they can't, GOPers will go back to talking traditional GOP ideology, and all the current MAGA citizens will go back to parroting those things, just as they did 10 years ago before they suddenly flipped all their views the last time.
