Fayetteville is on their way to a 10-4 loss against Down East, but Tyler Guilfoil was a bright spot for the Woodpeckers. 3 IP, 2 H, BB, 5 K
10th rounder Zach Cole now has 11 walks, 13 singles, and 15 stolen bases (caught once). He only stole 8 bases this college season, but led the nation in triples. He also has 6 OF assists, mostly playing RF. Hopefully the bat comes along, but there might be some interesting upside there.

Tyler Brown finished up a nice August with 4 scoreless last night. I have been pretty down on him since he was drafted but he’s ending the season on a high note. 25k, 7bb, in 22.2 ip in August. Colton Gordon also had a nice pitching performance last night. 6’4” 225lb lefty with good command. He is for sure one to watch next season and might be the best left handed pitching prospect in the system.
I just realized all 4 minor league affiliates have extended seasons relative to years past. Fayetteville and Asheville end on 9/11, Corpus on 9/18, and Sugar Land goes thru 9/28.
Trade deadline is for playoff rosters. Giants are not going to the playoffs. I expect the Giants to callup Brinson and kick the tires for the last weeks of September.
The July 31st deadline is technically only for guys on the 40 man, I think. Teams could still pull off prospect for prospect trades at any time. The September 1 deadline is for playoff eligibility.
Minor league players not on a teams 40 man roster can be traded at any time. They must be traded by 8/31 to be eligible for playoff rosters.
Well, with Meyers being back in AAA, that definitely cut into Brinson's playing time, let's see what they got in return.
Best case would be a PTBNL complex lotto but far more likely is cash considerations which is nothing.
It's got to suck for a player to get traded straight up for money. Would be hard to no take that a little personal.
He just wants to get back to the majors, I doubt he gives a s**t where that is. This gives him a better chance to do that, so I would imagine he's pretty happy about this development. Being traded for anything at least means somebody wants you, the Marlins just told him to GTFO so this is a step up
What do we know about Colton Gordon’s stuff? Dude has been flat out dominant at every stop this season with tons of Ks and surprisingly few walks. Think I read he throws in the low 90s?
